Orange phone upgrade
Hi
Am coming up to my Orange upgrade and am very tempted by the HTC TytnII. Have read that people find it bulky but I looked at one in the store and in real terms it didn't seem that much thicker than my K800i. Does anyone have this phone? How are you getting on with it? My other choice would be the Viewty but it seems to have fewer exciting features than the TytnII. Unfortunately, I've been into three different Orange stores and none of then had a TytnII that was working for me to try out. |

Push comes to shove take it from Upgrades over the phone, you'll get 7 days to change your mind if you don't like it initially.
I have used a Tytn 2 but don't have one myself - if the shop have shown you the dummy model then you will know the dimensions. For emails and web browsing it is great, and the GPS is good too. We are just about to launch the new HTC on Orange called the Shift, so you might want to have a look at that and see if it is interesting to you. It is bigger than the Tytn but for emails its non pareil as it's more like a mini laptop. |

Thanks Ricardo, will get it over the phone like you said. Been reading some of the other threads about Orange upgrades and it does seem like they limit their range of new phones much more than other providers. Was initially going to move to O2 and get the N95 8GB but then the nice chap at Orange gave me a much better deal on my tariff, but said to wait til I was out of contract (on the 19th) and I would get an even better deal.

Orange Direct are also offering the N95-1 with an 8GB Card.
HTC Shift is showing on Guru (actually has an article on Orange Today) saying that it will soon be available on orange.co.uk and SELECTED Orange retails stores throughout the UK. "We’re pleased to announce that Orange has launched the HTC Shift, a nifty Ultra Mobile PC (UMPC) that has the full functionality of a Windows Vista PC. It allows customers to write and edit Windows documents and presentations (using a full QWERTY keyboard and 7-inch touch screen) - as well as access to Windows Mobile at the push of a button to get access to all their personal or work data like calendars, contacts and email, and web access on the move. To top it off there’s a whopping 30Gb of hard drive for photos, videos, music and other fun stuff. Affectionately nicknamed the ‘Mob-top’, the Shift is an Orange exclusive that boasts 3G, 3G+, Bluetooth® 2.0, USB 2.0 and Wi-Fi connectivity. Its big screen can be tilted to allow touch and type, or the screen can be slid closed to turn the Shift into a tablet PC, with hand-writing recognition for notes, drawings or doodles. It’s good-looking, has a built-in fingerprint sensor for extra security and can alert customers when new emails arrive, even when it’s not switched on. If it was any more perfect in fact, we’d probably want to marry it. The HTC Shift will soon be available to buy online at orange.co.uk, and in selected Orange retail stores throughout the UK. |
