My Humax recorded Ashes to Ashes yesterday (20th), on series link, but then it sat at the top of the scheduled recording list, and did not appear in the list for next thursday. I went to next thursday, pressed record against ashes to ashes, and checked the scheduled listing again, and AtoA had disappeared from the top of the list, and was correctly there for next thursday.

I have been noticing quite a few odities about series link, sadly it isnt as reliable as it should be, and I have misseda hand-full of programmes as a result - not a huge number, but annoying none the less.

Sorry to throw a spanner in the works.

I also live in Cambridgeshire and receive from Sandy Heath
and have recorded all Ashes to Ashes, including episode 6 on the 13 March, with SL. with no problem at all, until now.

I have been away and have only just checked, and episodes 6 and 7 have recorde OK, but what has happened is, that it no longer apperes in the recording schedule for the last episode 8, somehow it has droped it, soon put it back tho, it also asked me if I wanted SL, strange as it is the last one and cant be a series any more.

The starting and ending info for episode 6 on 13 March is--
started 1 sec. befor the end of the BBC logo, and ended 1min 37sec after the end of "Next Time...", so got it all, cant be bad, dont know about timeings of the other episodes, 6 is the only one I have checked, and not watched any yet.

Yes, there seems not to be a common factor with series link breaking, sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. As I said before, I usually check the day's recordings n the morning, and if I notice that the link reservation is stuck on last week, I delete and reschedule it.

As others have noted elsewhere, there is no "end of series" flag - it'll keep looking for the next episode for 13 weeks when, allegedly, it will disappear from the list. Some have reported that they vanish earlier than this. If I am sure that there are no more to follow I manually delete - though I have come unstuck. I returned from holiday to find that there was no Lark Rise to Candleford on 17th and assumed that the last episode happened when I was away. It didn't, there was another one yesterday!

Like SatNav, the Humax needs to be watched - it isn't a fully automatic system, and can't really be. It's guesses as to what we want will never be 100%, I'm just glad that it's as good as it is.

Never had a problem with my sat/nav until last week when it tried to send me to the 19th hole on a golf course. true!!

But as you say we must keep our eyes on these electronic gadgets to be sure they do what WE want them to do
