I have the following machine Panasonic DMR-EX77EB, I just found out the above firmware is available for download, one thing I was wondering is that what are the patches Panasonic included on this firmware.

Despite being asked, Panasonic have remained tight-lipped about this.

OTA updates only ever deal with the reception software, not the machine operation, so it is likely to be an issue which only applies to certain sufferers under certain reception conditions and you are extremely unlikely to notice any difference.

There has been an issue recently of EZ27 users [ a machine that uses the same reception software ] having their machines freeze up on occasions when downloading the EPG data.

It was thought at one point it may be to address this ... but that seems unlikely now as Panasonic will send out a Fixdisc for that problem [if you ask for it...] which deals with the machine software... albeit it also loads this new version of the reception software.

Since the software update my machine is refusing to recognise my HHB DVD-R blank discs as recordable media. They used to work fine. How do I go about getting the fixdisc?

Hello Roger.

This must be entirely coincidence. The OTA software is for reception matters only and has no bearing on this kind of machine function.

HHB Discs... I've never even heard of which suggests they are of dubious quality.
Variability in batches is a typical problem of such discs.

If you try discs from another part of the batch you are likely to find that they do work [ or not]

I strongly recommend the use of high quality discs ... the best being those made by Taiyo Yuden using the TYG03 Dye.


The fixdisc ONLY deals with the Guide Freezing problem and only applies to the EZ27. if you have that machine and that problem [ It wont help with disc recognition] then contact Panasonic customer services.

HHB supply to professional sound recordists in the film and broadcast industry and are highly regarded.

I'll try another brand and if that does not work I'll post he machine back to Amazon as it is only a few months old.
