Does anyone remember Bryony from "maria?

She was the one who`s asked if she couldn`t do it again.

I guess she fits lovely inhere : the perfect brutality, nice voice and NOT posh.

You can already see the 3 that are gonna be there at the end. The others (like the crazy Blackpool one and Single Mum Nancy) are all just cannon fodder.

Oh, loving it so far. I particularly liked nancy nancy, cleopatra and the arabic girl whose name I forget (based on what we've seen so far, she'd be my pick).

The very young Irish girl (from tralee) had a perfect look for nancy but her singing was so-so and her acting was deplorable. I don't know why they put her through.

Enjoyed Liverpool Nancy, but I can't see her lasting awfully long. I don't have the energy to cope with her for ten weeks of the live shows.

Jodie from Blackpool has already won one reality show - The Biggest Loser - she was lovely on that but she may need to tone down the personality to get further in this though.

Those were my top three too!

I really think that it's Nancy Nancy's part though. Worried that she stood out too early, they do like to see somebody grow and develop and so do the voters.

I'd guess at "Cheerio! We'll Be Back Soon!" or 'It's A Fine Life'

Often the journey matters on reality shows but arguably not so often in music shows and not so In Maria where the most obvious candidate won or Joseph where Lee also stuck out.

Its also going to be interesting to see if the final choice has anything in common with what ALW says he wants - we got one of the least boyband looking/sounding contestants as Joseph and the Maria who most like Julie Andrews, so streetwise tough cockney with a heart ought to turn out to be the opera singers daughter from Rutland on past preceedent.

The other odd thing that struck me so far is that the more they pick genuine rough diamonds the more difficult it will be for them to find success doing anything else. Watching Aoife or Helena or Abi become faultless Americans for a whole show suggests its going to be a lot more difficult for less trained streetwise Nancys with broad inner city accents.

There are some good singers in this competition and the standard knocks X factor for 6. I look forward to the weekly shows.

If I had to choose a character from Oliver! it would take several attempts before I came up with "Nancy" in fact I don't think she appears until half way through. Also now we know that the public won't be voting for the lead role of Oliver, this really is a desperate attempt to keep going this contrived formula for picking a so called west end star.

The next installment I expect will be to choose who plays the hump in the Hunchback of Notre Dame.

One has to wonder what the motivation was behind picking Oliver of all shows. Like you say, we're not picking the main role and Nancy doesn't appear for a while. It's just very bizarre. Someone said My Fair Lady was under consideration which would have been a good choice.

Someone else said it might have been picked on the back of their Oliver adaptation last year, but I don't know.

It was still a good show however. I must confess I didn't see much of the past two shows but I enjoyed this one tonight.

If, as it appears they are alternating the sexes then this must have been their only option which does seem desperate. I wish someone had just been honest and admitted that Nancy isn't a starring role. Of course the aim of the programme is to get people to go to musicals who wouldn't normally. I think these people are going to be very disappointed and feel misled when they eventually go and see Oliver!. It would have been more interesting in my opinion if they were casting Fagin.

I wonder if ALW will be brave enough next year to cast Phantom 2 this way.

I have to say I hope Jodie doesn't make it too far. No harm to her, but she's so OTT that even a few seconds listening to her grates on my nerves.

I liked the Rutland girl; I know she's the opposite of what they say they're looking for, but then so was Connie Fisher.

Up to now Cleopatra's my favourite. She was only loud when she sang - the way most of the other girls screeched instead of talked really irritated me. (I mean, when they were OUT of character!)

She deserved to stay for not bursting into tears, like most of the rejected contestants. I applaud her for just shrugging her shoulders & getting a hug from her mum.

The BBC have an excellent site where you can watch all 42 auditions for the last 12. Its very interesting. Why do some people pick songs that show none of the required qualities and why are nearly all the strongest candidates actually singing choices from the show already - brains, experience or someone else choosing?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/oliver/video/index.shtml?week=5

Cleopatra Nancy looks and sounds really good to me as does Nancy Nancy. Am I also right to be impressed by Amy brummie Nancy (Nancy number 10/42 ) who didn't feature that much on the first show but is going to look very impressive looking into a TV camera if she can keep that up? Is she one they have kept a bit hidden?

Nancy Nancy for me also.

Wasn't keen on Single Mum Nancy, think Irish Nancy is very pretty, Scary Nancy reminds me of Kirsty Alley for some reason, imagine her after a few drinks though - how crazy could she get ?! Posh Nancy sings well, but I think she is far too young (IMHO).

I agree with Jelly - some fabulously chavtastic Nancies!!

I did groan when someone sang 'Memories' - that was old hat and sung to death 20 years ago when I was auditioning for drama school!!! Myabe it's 'retro' now.........

'Nancy Nancy' Sullivan has done lots of professional work and recently toured in the Take That musical 'Never Forget'. Didn't mention that in her sob story did they? She's my fave to win.

There are quite a few of them I recognised from musical theatre. One girl played Denise van Outen's lover in 'Rent' recently, her video is in the final 42 (?) (Francesca Jackson) also Helen French who has done loads and im sure is currently or just been in 'Phantom'. Also recognised Katie Rowley Jones who played Nessa in 'Wicked', don't think she got through.

UI wasn't ture about the Oliver show before tonight. But I really enjoyed it. They seem to be handling it very well for which I am glad. I'm glad the Olivers are not being subjected to a public vote because it would not make comfortable viewing. And it's nothing to do with being PC. I just think that I don't want to see little 10-12 year olds getting rejected on national television.

I really liked the Nancys as well. Looking forward to see the shows. I'm sorry to lose Zoe cos I liked her, but I'm glad Denise is back.

I'm so happy that there is something I can watch on a Saturday night!

I thought she looked familiar - thanks. She was one of the few things about that horrific Rent production that was worthwhile (I didn't see it until after Denise had legged it).

Seems weird that she would need to go through the BBC Oliver auditions if she's already an established large role West End performer, unless being associated with that Rent has scarred her career for life!
