"Damages" series link
chrisdr
14-03-2008
Hi,

Has anyone noticed a glitch in the series link data for Damages (bbc 1)? It has been moved from its Friday night slot to Monday (17th) due to Sports Relief.

I assume that the link data has changed so the Humax can't match.

Can anyone, with Damages set on series link, confirm the same problem. I want to check whether its the data, or my Humax that has screwed up.

Thanks

Chris

Damages has always been on Mondays, the friday was a repeat of the Monday episode.

Does anyone know what happened to 'Damages' last week ie on the Monday. No sign of a recording. I had assumed it wasn't transmitted for some reason (ie skipped a week), but now I'm concerned I might have missed an episode .

Barry

PS: And it's difficult enough sometimes to follow all the convolutions even when I haven't missed an episode!

I've been trying to work out whether I've missed an episode also. The thing about Sports Relief I got from another thread - Being a repeat slot, the Friday episode wasn't shown because it wasn't broadcast on Monday.

That said, I'd expect the Humax the pick up the next repeat slot (next Sat 0:20), which it hasn't, so I've setup a new series link for the Monday episode on the 17th.

This is my concern - I recall that one of the bugs fixed by v21 was where the box failed to pick up an episode where it jumped by more than a week (or something similar, correct me if I am wrong).

Is this really screwed up series link data, or a reocurrence of that bug?

I record the Monday showing and tomorrow's episode was picked up correctly once the data was available on the EPG (i.e. Tuesday).

For Friday's episode I wouldn't expect it to be added until Saturday.

Yes, but did you get a recording last Monday - 10 March? Cannot think what else might have been on to cause the Beeb not to transmit.

I have recorded Dmagaes by series link form the first episode every Monday. No glitches till Monday 10th when the episode didn't appear in the recorded list. I still don't know whether it was even broadcast as I didn't check. I had a look on BBC IPlayer and there is no Damages episode there. As the BCC keeps them avaialble for download for 7 days after broadcast I can only guess that it wasn't shown on the 10th - or am I wrong??

PS - Also noticed a few other 'dropped' series links too. Lark Rise To Candleford for instance. Fortunately discovered the drop before it was too late and re-entered it. Good job as the Mrs would have been vexed!

Damages wasn't Broadcast on Monday 10th March. So series link should pick-up from tomorrow (March 17th). None of it has anything to do with Sportrelief.

Actually it did. Damages was not broadcast on 10/3/08 because of Sport Relief programmes being shown all week around that time slot.

Youngbaz asked if there was a reason for the BBC not transmitting Damages on the 10th.

I explained that the BBC transmitted another programme in place of it called 'Sports Portraits' - one of many programmes broadcast throughtout the week in support of Sport Relief.

edit: Thank you Square Eyes 53, you posted as I was drafting a response.

Thanks for that old buddy! I hadn't noticed anything in the schedule that I use (comes with the Saturday newspaper) - but then maybe I hadn't looked!

I guess one of the spin-offs from AR is that I've got lazy about checking what's on - just set up the series and forget about it!

Damages was recorded by me on 3 March, next episode is 17 March (tonight) so Series Link works perfectly then..........

There was one thing I didn't make clear in my earlier post. After recording the episode aired on 3rd March, my hummy dropped/deleted the series link for Damages. It's this that alerted me to check if I'd missed the episode on 10th March (and subsequently found wasn't broadcast). I had to re-enter the series link to ensure tonights programme is recorded.

I see that others lost their series link too while for others it appears this didn't happen i.e. their hummy simply recognised tonight's as the next episode in the series. Is this the case?

I'm on the Sutton coldfield transmitter for what it's worth.

Are you sure that it wasn't just that it didn't show up because the next episode was more than 7 days in advance? I've got Damages on series link and it recorded 3rd March and then 17th March without requiring any intervention from me. I must admit that I didn't look to see if it was on the list, because the series link facility has worked so well, I've stopped checking anything.

I got so fed up with this I d/l all the episodes of Damages, and watched to the end in one sitting - why did I do that?

No, the series link disappeared completely.

Seriously thinking of ditching SR completely by rolling back the firmware. I used to enter my programmes on a Saturday for the week ahead. As I can't trust series lnk I'm still effectively having to spend the time each week checking that programmes remain in the schedule. What's the difference?

And, while I'm having a moan, I've recently experienced my first lock ups of the Hummy. Never had this before.

Lastly, last week's Friday Night with Johnny Ross, which is also on SR, started recording half way through the broadcast!

Hmmph!!

I had the same problem where Damages just disappeared from the recording schedule. ER also skipped a week and my hummy dropped that one too. Fortunately I noticied and was able to put them back in time.

On the other hand the box has kept Jericho in the schedule list for about 3 weeks now pending another episode so the hummy is not being very consistant ?
