Avatar was okay - come on - it was an improvement over Titanic! That being said, I agree that it is far too much about the effects and there is little substance to it(much like Titanic), but then that goes for a lot of Cameron's films.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy is very overhyped. I think they made films of the books, rather than proper films, if you see what I mean. They left me cold emotionally.

Fargo I could never see what the fuss was about. It seemed to jokey in style. Plus, Marge seems a bit of caricature. The jokey style and bleak storyline don't seem to gel. I thought that Coen brothers more serious films(Blood Simple, Barton Fink and No Country For Old Men) were better.

American Beauty I thought was a bit overrated. I suppose it did try and go down the intelligent route, but it perhaps wasn't as good as it thought it was.

I didn't like Vertigo. I thought that it was misogynistic and a bit too convoluted in its storyline. Stewart gives a good performance(well, I don't think he has ever given a bad one), the music is good and I suppose there is an interesting story premise, but it just leaves me cold all the time. The whole 'it is Hitchcock as Scottie and it is really a film about him and his obsession' seems strangely out of place in the film.

I don't care much for Raging Bull. I adore Taxi Driver and Mean Streets. Raging Bull seems to in your face and overblown(especially the fight sequences - and yes, I know it is boxing, but still). Plus, De Niro seems to be caricature and not a more rounded performance like in his earlier films.

The English Patient was massively overhyped as well. I personally, didn't like it. It was meant to be, a return to 'old fashioned epics'(circa David Lean). Too much stiff upper lip and so on. Plus, all the stuff about Fiennes and Scott Thomas' characters having their affair.

Out of sight, Clooney and Lopez, saw this in the cinema when it first came out, 9 girls on a night out (some had had a few drinks) but all hated it, seemed to go on forever. I tried to watch it a few years later, but failed.

Also hated Lord of the Rings - seemed to go on forever, I didnt care about the fight for middle earth, I've never dared to watch the sequel.

I agree about Finding Nemo, it is a tiny bit overrated. I much prefer Ratatouille and the Incredibles, which are NOT overrated!!!

The last Harry Potter film was crap. It was so overhyped that just seeing Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter made everyone give it five stars. It was so predictable and the one liners that they tried to make epic were dull and just stupid. It was a boring film and I just did not get the hype about it. The first few were good, then slowly got tired.

I think Twilight is underrated. Each film should get at least 5/10 on IMDb. Twilight is bad, but not THAT bad. Yes, teenagers swoon for the actors, but that shouldn't affect a movie. It's overrated in the female teen category, but overall, taking in everyone's age group, I don't think so. People just expect it to be bad. They are irritating films, but there are some good aspects to them. But the fourth one deserves its rating...

Watchmen is just weird. And messed up, although I did enjoy the arms being sawed off. I was like LOL.

Hangover is BORING. Ugh, stop talking about it. And don't even talk about the sequel!

Kickass was ok...

Why did everyone think Inception was so original??? It's NOT ORIGINAL.

Please don't hate me, but The Dark Knight. I prefer the slightly earlier Batman films. Batman, Batman Returns (Catwoman saying Meow as the building behind her explodes...EPIC), Batman Forever, let's just ignore Batman & Robin....

In general, Christopher Nolan. He is BORING. I only want to see Dark Knight Rises for Anne Hathaway in a sex suit...

Godfather was a bit boring too. I thought the third was actually the best, although IMDb users despise it. I didn't expect the daughter being shot at the end. I was actually really upset after that. The first two didn't affect me. Meh.

Jurassic Park is NOT overrated. Watching it years after it came out, it was EPIC, although the final part where the velociraptors are "removed" by the T-Rex was a bit convenient. Point is, if i found it epic ages after it was released, after seeing all these special effects in current films, it must have been AMAZING to watch when it was first released. Lost World is horrendous. JP III is very underrated. It was so much better than Lost World and had some intense action/chase scenes. Leave the film alone!!!!

Shutter Island was very slow, I agree. I still like it though...

Superbad. was. superbad.

No Country For Old Men was quite intense, but it's not brilliantly original and there was no payoff at the end. After all that, why do they have to die? It's just pointless. And the villain is just so weird!

Shrek was meh, but Shrek II was AMAZING. After that the series is atrocious.

Black Swan

Cheap psychological thriller shlock disguised as Art House because it has ballet as it's theme.

Imagine if instead of ballet the central character was having a mental pressures over her job as a lapdancer ... then you have "Showgirls".

A lot of people love the Harry Potter films, but I just can't get into them. I've always found them to be quite boring and I just find the characters dull and uninspiring.

Scarface 8.2 - Right i'm now declaring that anyone who likes Scarface and Godfarther/Goodfellas/Casino, etc (good ganster films), doesn't like them for what they really are which is a good plot and casting/acting.

Avatar 2billion at the box office. Why? James Cameron was successful in the terminators and aliens but since then gone done hill. Only popular because of him and the evil that is 3D. Also, Unobtainium??!! was this written by a twelve year old?

'Ghandi'. It's overlong, over the top and frankly, dull as ditch water.
