I just got my E65 unlocked. I have a few months to run on the contract.

If I de-brand the phone now, will it remove MSN, Ebay, Skype icons/programs etc. And would it affect my free use of those services or them working?

Any advice/help appreciated!

Hi
Just got an LG shine unlocked via a place called http://www.fonemaster.co.uk/
As part of the service it was de branded and the planet 3 shortcut button etc removed and one marked internet in it`s place.
It was straightforward putting the correct settings back on(although I think they must have left some 3 software on bcuz the same settings dont display the "today on three" page on non 3 handsets when I try)
Some games also appeared on the phone that three obviously remove so they can charge for their own.
Fonemaster will advise you about MSN etc as they were really helpfull and replied to e-mails quickly.
Only downside is you have to send it to them but having said that I posted it saturday and it was back by tuesday.

While you may be able to put the MMS & internet settings into the debranded handset, you wont be able to access 3's version of MSN or ebay.

Well, is there a non-3 version of Skype for Series 60 yet?

I know there are other VoIP services, (and there may be a provider neutral official version of Skype on the Horizon) but they'd require the purchase of a data bundle. It's more cost compared to the Free Skype from 3.

Hopefully this answers the OPs post about Skype.

To my knowledge, there is no OFFICIAL Skype client for symbian, other than the one from 3.

There is software compatible with Skype, fring, etc - but these would require a Data Bundle.

The Skype client on 3 is quite strange, it actually calls 3 over the normal phone network THEN routes the call online...
