Are girl groups 'insincere'?
Well OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder has said he's never bought a record by a girl group as he finds them insincere - the idea of a manufactured group being put together for a businessmans' gain is what he doesn't like.
Sorry, but why is he only referring to girl groups? There's just as many, if not more, manufactured boybands out there.

That's true. Both girl/boy bands are ultimately put together to make money. Why single out girl bands? As you say, if anything there were/are more boybands and theyre marketed more.

I expect that he was probably asked a specific question about girlgroups in general or one particular girlgroup and this was his response which has just been taken slightly out of context.
To answer the question, perhaps they are insincere. But groups like Sugababes and Girls Aloud are putting out some catchy pop songs so I don't really care so long as the music is good. |

The Bangles and Heart wouldn't fit that 'manufactured' type.
