Devil May Cry 4 - a hard game?

Would you say that Devil May Cry 4 is a hard game?

I ask because it took me 10 minutes to kill the first person I faced and after 10 minutes, I still hadn't killed the second person.

Maybe I'm not using enough attack Combos?

urm well.. I don't believe it's hard until you go on the hard (or even the one after that) mode. Do you mean the boss or just one of them jumping jesters with blades on their legs? If so... you are definitely not playing the game right lol

It's basically a button mashing game, but also using different techniques and combos. The best way I found to get the best combos to start with was to hold down the LS and hit X or Y and you'll hit them upwards in the air and you should follow, then just bash your buttons like mad to get as many combos as possible on him. Then do the same maybe? Use your devil arm to grab them too. It does get easier I find as you can unlock really good power ups, and once you get the power up for your arm to grab things from a distance, its easier to get alot of combos and you'll soon get SSS style.

Another tip.. don't bother using your guns. They hardly do any damage at all!! Only use it on bosses really when they are really far away just to bring the life down slightly or get them to come closer to you.

Always read what tips come on the screen on how to use combos too.. the only way you will learn!

What difficulty are you an at the moment? The Human mode is rather easy whereas the Devil Hunter Mode offers quite a good challenge in my experience - especially the final boss in that mode!

Using the Sword and the Devil Bringer will make short work of them, as the previous poster said gins are rather useless you can't reach them. Also take note of the enemy's AI you can usually tell if they are going to attack before they perform it e.g saying something, movement etc.

I'm finding it quite hard getting past that pope-like guy on level 10 just cannot do it at all, I'd given up on it for the past couple of weeks
I'm not great with combo-type games though

That took me a while, you just gotta keep attacking him while he's floating. Use your arm to grab onto the little things flying round him to get close to him to unleash some combos (it's what they are there for) You'll notice his shield get smaller until he has none left where you'll get a cool scene of a combo you do on him. I think you have to do it twice - then you unlock the other guy - which i didn't like and stopped playing lol

I found DMC1 (Nightmare, anyone?!) & DMC3 harder than DMC4, so far.

I've stopped playing it for now as I'm the forest level, with Dante, where you have to find the right path (going through the purple clouds). After over half an hour of wandering around, running into dead ends I gave up.
I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and use a walkthrough.

Hopefully there aren't any more levels like this.

Hmmm DMC4??, i played it and was enjoying it quite a bit till i hit the Dante part ie where you fight Dante....out of all the bosses that i had come across he was far the most difficult to beat. So much so that after 5 days of trying i just gave up and traded the game in. God knows how i kept myself calm as i was so close to breaking my controllers but Dante is definitely...well for me was the hardest boss to beat. All the others were piss easy i found.

The last boss fight was rather hard on Devil Hunter. I used a Holy Water when he was on his last health segment .

Come to think of it, I never actually done Human mode yet. Felt that it would be a good challenge skipping the easier difficulty.

I read that shooting doesn't have much effect, so you just have to get up close and keep on hitting him, jump away when he goes to strike you.

I beat him. Its best to jump, hit with the sword twice, then punch him.

I got this on release.

Not played it in weeks though... got a bit bored with it tbh.

When I actually get time for some gaming, I tend to play COD4 at the moment... DMC4 just didn't grab me at all.

May just trade it in, not sure if I can be bothered to finish it.
