LCD Bargains?

Hi everyone,

Anyone know any good deals on a nice mid sized LCD? I'm looking for something under or around £500 mark too as unfortunately the missus is controlling the purse strings over a new tv purchase...

I've seen this but it's went up in price overnight which annoyed me to say the least.

Any other suggestions? I've never bought an LCD before so any help as well with hardware specs would be great.

Just bought this 32" LG LCD on behalf of the father-in-law who being a pensioner is on a tight budget. For the price the picture quality isn't that bad.

Just been to my local Tesco Extra and they had a 37inch 1080p Technika LCD for £490. Didn't see it working but, shouldn't be too bad

EDIT

I'll take the previous comment back. just checked the spec on tesco's website - Contrast Ratio of 700:1 (That's not a typo, it does say seven hundred lol) Pretty poor really. Would go for the Samsung 32inch R87 for £500.

I have the previous version, the one with the old XD engine, nice set.

GREAT HD picture, easily as good as the old man's Sony Bravia on SD.

Yes I'm getting it delivered today Monday -after weeks of research and finally going into tv shop last Saturday it came down to lg or Sony so i went for lg as it was 100 euro cheaper. Some say picture quality almost matches Bravia. I hope so.

Sorry, there was an error in my previous post.

It is as good as the Sony Bravia on SD sources, Great HD too, but i never put my PS3 through the old man's Bravia so i can't compare it!

Is the sound ok from the tv speakers? The lg lc 55 has two 7 watt speakers. Bigger models have two 10 watt speakers.

Yep, sound pretty good actually, there's a few modes available, like "surround max", "Movie", "Music" and "Flat".

I heard plenty worse!

I should stress that my TV is the older version of the one that you're getting though, so yours may well be different.

I set it up tonight - will need fine tuning. Do you leave it on standby all the time - even at night?

my 23'' philips was all over the richer sounds website last summer, £300 i think and hd ready with 5 year supercare, they phased them out cos the integrated digital ones came out and it was supposed to have been nearly £500

i've got freeview on a seperate input after a nightmare with a sony tv/video combi (video packed in)

The lg lc 55 can take 1080p input but what is it's highest quality output? Is it 720p or 1080i or something else?
