recipe books
If you have a real recipe book, as opposed to printouts from the net, how do you use yours?
Do you make every recipe in turn? Do you look through it for something you might fancy making? or do you look through it when you have a particular item, eg mince, that you want to use? |

Depends - I have stared some things I want to try, I have also turned to them when I've got something I want to cook but differently - and then if and when.
Like I've said before, I try as much as I can to look through and cook something different on a Saturday |

I depends. Mainly i'll use them for inspiration- like if I get meat or a certain vegetable which has been on offer, or sometimes to check an alternative way of cooking something I don't often use.
I find that a lot of recipe books require a bigger store cupboard (spices, etc in particular), a bigger budget and a larger number of mouths to feed than I have! Although it can be fun to try adapt it for one person! |

I enjoy cookery books but I don't tend to use them as they are intended. I assimilate the ideas and make my own creations.
If I am unsure of how to prepare a fruit or vegetable, then I will also consult a cookery book or watch an online video and get a better idea if I actually watch someone do it on an online cookery channel. Reading about families and food history also intrigues me as it is like having a meal with them. Madhur Jaffrey,Claudia Roden,Frances Mayes and Miranda Innes have all been very beneficial in their descriptions of their own family meal times. |

Whilst I'm watching them I often feel like eating whatever they're showing. Char grilled monkfish gets me going one minute, then I'm watching jerk chicken and change my mind. Nah, it's just what I fancy at the time - plus what ingredients I have in. I do tend to print off favourite recipes and laminate them though.

When we have visitors at the weekend, I always trawl through my cookery books to look for something different, so as to give them a nice surprise. I really enjoy trying out new recipes.
