picture interference????
hi everyone,
I've just got a SONY RDRHXD870 DVD Recorder and have it hooked up to my philips 32PFL5522 32" HD Ready Digital LCD TV through a hdmi cable , i've then got my amstrad sky box into the dvd recorder through and Rgb enabled scart. Everything is set up to be rgb and my dvd recorder is set up to output progressive 1080p but when i watch sky through the dvd recorder there is a ghost image behind which really stands out when you see solid blue colours. Any one any ideas how to stop this as its really annoying? Cheers Lee just found out now that if i set it to 1080i it's there still but not as bad. |

Don't watch Sky through your DVD recorder, watch it directly via RGB SCART.

The best connection is Sky TV SCART-->DVDR I/P SCART, DVDR O/P SCART-->TV RGB SCART. The HDMI should be connected for watching DVDs, Sky should be viewed via the SCART with the DVDR usually in standby. There's no reason why mallaeus should be getting ghosting on his picture, there's clearly something wrong. Mallaeus, we need much more information. Do you get ghosting when the DVDR is in standby (RGB pass through) or is it just when the DVDR is turned on? Is the ghosting on HDMI or SCART? Do you get ghosting on recorded DVDs? |

right this is how it is, Sky is connected to dvdr with profigold rgb enabled scart, dvdr is connected to tv through hdmi so when the dvd is on standby i get no signal so the recorder has to be on . ok i could put another scart from sky to tv but then the recordings from sky would still have ghosting . the playback of recorded off sky dvd s has the same i think but not on prerecorded discs.

Lee What happens if you view in 576i? Presumably though you don't state it the DVDR has no ghosting when viewing a commercial DVDR? The obvious thing to do is change the SCART lead as that's the most likely cause. Also check and make sure the DVDR input/output scart settings are correct. |

i didn't have the dvdr connected to the tv through a scart i had it through component video and there was no ghosting. i tried to connect the dvdr to the tv with the hdmi and component so i could use the hdmi for watching dvds and the component for watching sky but the component wasn't giving out any signal.
Anyway, i think i've got it sorted ive put another scart from the dvdr to the tv so i can watch sky throught that (incase i want to use the pause tv function) and then use the hdmi for veiwing dvd movies. Thanks for all the help. |
