Katharine McPhee - how fantastic was she!!!
I've been a huge fan since Idol 2006 (WHY she didn't beat hillbilly Taylor is anyone's guess - where is he now hmm?)
Anyway, I was just watching casually when Ryan announced her on stage - and I was bowled over by her star quality and beauty - I'm gay and was thinking PHWOAR!! And after the performance was even more excited when David Foster announced he was working on her 2nd album....I love her debut and was disappointed when she was dropped by RCA despite selling 350,000 and reaching #2 on the Billboard chart. Anyway, bring it on - Foster is an amazing writer and producer.... |

Pretty girl, pretty voice, pretty soulless. Taylor won because he could emote. His version of Something that he did on the show was much better in that aspect. You believed what he sang whereas Katherine doesn't seem to think about the words at all.

For me, she emoted perfectly. Stunning vocals, stunning girl. Enjoyed every bit of it. Far, far better than what we had from Blake.

I recommend her album "Katharine McPhee" - imaginative title, but some GREAT songs - Love Story and Over It are on youtube, but there any many great ballads like Everywhere I Go and Each Other.
I personally think exudes star quality |

She is absolutely beautiful, and she has a lovely voice, but I don't think she is outstanding. She sounds like a competant trained lounge singer. The fact is, she just doesn't have the range, power, clarity of tone, or uniqueness to make her a great vocalist. Polished and pleasant to listen to, yes, definitely....but there are a million Katherines in music schools and lounges and theatres across the world. Her looks and vocals being polished by her vocal coach mom set her apart, and she will probably have a good career doing lite pop and cabaret style numbers, but I don't rate her as a top vocalist.

I personally think exudes star quality Unfortunately, I could see why her album did not sell too well after llistening to the songs you recommended. Its totally bland and is not her niche. Well, for me anyway. This is not the Katherine that was on AI. The same thing happened to Taylor as well. Listening to 'Until she comes back to me', 'Since I feel for you', 'Someone to watch over me', 'Come rain and come shine'. They all suited her and more. I agree with Paula when she called her style 'elegance'. For me listening to her partnership with Andrew would be a great thing. Because that sort of music suits her very much. She could also add smooth jazz and blues to her style. Thats my view anyway. Regards Babeth |

i agree ^
i've heard her album, there are some really good songs on there, but they arent really her style, she should never have gone done the Pop route, hope her next album is more her and not controlled by her management oh and the reason why Kellie Pickler and Chris did so well is because they stuck to what they do best |

I loved her on AI 2006 mainly because of the type of songs she was singing.
Then RCA makes her do a dreadful Mariah Carey / Beyonce -type R&B / Pop album. The song she sang on friday was amazing and perfect for her. That's the type of music she should be doing on her next album. Will deffinitely buy it if so. |

She should have won her season but I thought she was pretty average really. Her songs post-Idol haven't been good either and I can see why she flopped and was dropped by her label.

It was a tough one that year though. Chris Daughtry was excellent as was Elliot Yamin. Quote:
dreadful Mariah Carey / Beyonce

Very pretty, technically a very good singer but she just leaves me cold somehow. Taylor Hicks had so much more feeling and sincerity in his voice and performance. And Chris Daughtry should have been in the top 2 with him imo.
