All in one Cinema Systems
Have never used an all-in-one DVD/Surround Sound package before but a lack of room beneath the TV means I'm looking at an all in one Blu-ray and Home Cinema Setup (specifically the as-yet-unreleased Panasonic SC-BT100) to replace my separates.
Simple question; can you turn the surround sound speakers off if you just want to play mono-coded DVDs through the TV speakers? Admittedly, no one can give me a definite answer for that model but experiences with similar set-ups are welcome. |

Why would you want to listen to mono DVD's via the TV speakers when listening through the system will more than likely give you better sound quality and more choice in how you listen to that dedicated soundtrack.
The majority of systems give you various options on how you listen to various soundtracks via their decoding abilities or DSP functions. You could have a mono soundtrack playing through the front two speakers or all speakers via a DSP mode like mono movie, got to be better than the TV speakers. But to answer your original question, you should be able to configure the system so that the audio can be heard through the TV speakers and not the system. |

most all-in-one systems are connected to the tv via scart and provide sound and picture through this. Just turn the volume down on the system.
