I heard the very same thing about 4 months ago only then it was Mr Biggins who was the chosen one.

Do ITV make any programmes which dont have a hidden agenda these days?

All i can say is what I saw on screen and whilst waiting for the results Chris looked worried and Suzanne was smiling so I wouldn't call that arrogant and thinking he had it in the bag. AND no I am not a Chris fan but I hate seeing injustices. I also think whichever way it had gone the other would have felt gutted so Chris has nothing to be ashamed about in feeling gutted ... in fact it shows he is human

Because sometimes it is better to bite your lip and keep your thoughts to yourself to spare people's feelings. Philip is a presenter and as so he should be unbiased at least at face level.

I would have said the exact same thing if personal comments had been directed at Suzanne or Zaraah.

I do not see a problem with it, it was after the show so no biase was shown during the show. Why so sensitive anyway, he only said Chris thought he had it in the bag He didn't criticise his skating.

My personal opinion is that as of next year ALL contestants should start at a level playing field. ALL non-skaters, ALL non-dancers (I didnt realise Suzanne has also had ballet lessons). What's so exciting about these programmes if you already know which of only two people were destined to win because of past experience. Doesn't make sense to me.

So would you have preferred Chris & Suzanne not to be in it?

In my opinion, he said it in a gossipy, sneering sort of way. I thought it was gratuitous & dismissive of the pleasure Chris has brought to many viewers this series.

Right so Jason has to go because of the article in the NOTW.
Robin has to go because of his Balero comment.
Philip has to go because of comments he made about Chris.
Holly has to go

and buy some more revealing dresses for the next series

Nobody is saying Philip has to go. What they are saying is that he shouldn't have said what he said because the way he said it was awful in a sneering and condescending way. Its not about being sensitive its about someone portraying someone in an unfavourable light for no reason. The show is over so why talk about Chris that way?

Who said Philip had to go? I just thought it was rather churlish & uncalled for for him to say what he did when Chris has been a great asset to the show.

it was a play on words....

Im at work so didnt watch "This Morning" so not sure how it came across but I would defend his right to voice an opinion if he so wished. if you found it distasteful thats really your problem.

You can always complain to ITV rather than being a keyboard warrior

I don't think contributing my opinion to a thread makes me a 'keyboard warrior' - it just makes me someone with something to say. If you don't like it, put me on ignore.

Right

So you will moan on here but wouldnt think about making an official complaint about Phillip.

Cant be that bothered about it then can you.

Why do you say 'unlike you'? You can voice any opinion you like - I may not agree with it, but that is the nature of a discussion forum. However, I don't think it encourages debate when you accuse someone of being a 'Keyboard warrior' & of moaning.

That would pretty much rule out anyone who grew up in a town with an Ice Rink, any pop star of either gender, most TV and film actresses, a fare few TV and film actors, all musical/broadway stars, oh and any canadians

And where do you draw the line? What if someone played Ice Hockey 10 years ago and hasn't been on the ice since? What if someone had ballet lessons when they were 5 years old, what about people who skate around their local rink once a week with their kids or go to clubs every weekend and dance on podiums?

Oh and of course we'd have to stop anyone who's ever been in panto taking part because of the wire work so that's excluded every single soap star in the UK and Australia

As long as the stars are honest about their past - Suzanne made no secret of her dance training - and you'd have to be pretty daft not to realise she had it as part of Hear'say - and Chris made no secret of the Ice Hockey experience then I have no problem.

I read somewhere that Zaarah was a dance teacher but nothing was said on the show or any surrounding publicity. If that's true then i think it was underhand not to mention it.

Yes I would have been gutted, and imo he handled himself very well.

Well then I'm naive - because right up until the time Phillip announced Suzanne's name I thought it would be Chris.

Suzanne was superb on the night - perhaps she is mentally tougher than Chris - she's certainly got nerves of steel -perhaps because Chris was such a hot favourite she was under less pressure than him - who knows, but no one held a gun to my head whilst I voted for Suzanne - and no one did the same to prevent anyone voting for Chris.

Agreed Kate - also I've seen Chris skate with more confidence than he did last night and he was up against someone who played a blinder, so of course he was anxious. The bookies had Chris as odds on favourite, the betting money was on him, everyone thought it was a foregone conclusion and it seemed that there was nothing Suzanne could do to stop the roller coaster, so she was probably resigned to the fact that she was runner up. Chris was probably hoping against hope that his fanbase was strong enough to deliver the trophy to him despite knowing that Suzanne had dug deep to give the performances of a lifetime. The guy's only 20 (is he 21 now)? it would be impossible not to show some disappointment.

As for Phillips remarks - sounded remarkably like gloating to me - very unprofessional; why kick a dog when he's down?

i agree with you on everything you said, also chris had no chance of winning once they showed her son crying in the audience not once but several times and i bet that pulled in the votes

I just wonder if there are any convenient programmes lined up for Suzanne as there was for MR Biggins

Do you really think anyone would vote for an inferior skater just because a child was crying? I'm not asking this sarcastically - just genuinely surprised that they would do this.

So dId it make you vote for Suzanne and if not why on earth think that any sane human being watching a skating show is going to vote on whose kid is in the audience crying or laughing?

I voted for Suzanne because she was by far the best last night, nothing to do with her son, we are not all narrow-minded you know.

I dont really understand why you watch these programmes. Your favorite always seems to lose in the final and then its all down to hidden agendas and public manipulation?

I believe there are some very good treatments for paranoia these days.
