It's a fix!

Just kidding!

I certainly believe that the best all round celebrity was victorious last night.

Zaraah was my personal fave as I really warmed to her, but recognised her as the weakest technical skater. I was still glad she got to the final though. (It was a tough call between her and Gareth, very tough.)

Chris had that wow factor. I always seemed to need a lie down in a darkened room after watching his performances. Very exciting though not always precise. (loved Frankie too!)

In the very first show of the series I thought the outstanding performer was Suzanne. I lost my love for her along the way a little but that was a personal thing and I certainly recognise her amazing talent and commitment.

So yes, she defintely deserved to win.

I've noticed that some posters have been unhappy with my posts on this forum. All I've ever tried to do is address certain perceived injustices. I can't bear unfairness. But if I've come across in the wrong way, I apologise. Not for my opinions you understand. Those I stand by.

As should you.

Vive la difference!

Both Suzanne and Chris had the "wow" factor, certainly. I thought his "Time Warp" was outstanding and overall he may have been the more consistent competitor, but - in the immortal words of Dan Maskell - Oh my Word, Suzanne pulled out ALL the stops for the final and was jaw-droppingly good. Goodness knows WHAT they're going to have to do next year if they are to top this bunch. Well, with a few exceptions, obviously.

I'm not saying Suzanne didn't perform well in the final but I do feel the final was EXTREMELY biased towards her..the judges..T&D..the presenters..EVERYONE seemed to make it pretty obvious they wanted her to win & for me..it was wrong..they're there & meant to be impartial.

To pick at Chris..whom they have praised soo much for weeks..to pick at him for a slight slip at the end of one routine & to say his 'Bolero' wasn't 'fun' enough was absolutely complete rubbish..his ending didn't look messy, whether it was changed or not & as for picking on his Bolero..well, no-one has EVER had their Bolero picked at before..it's meant to be intense..he couldn't go around the rink doing the Time Warp to it now could he!!

So for me, the final WAS fixed up, & they couldn't have been anymore obvious about it!

It felt to me like Suzanne was given the best of everything..especially in the flying..Zaraah could've been given a hell of alot more to do in the air, but wasn't..she & Chris also got rubbish songs..it was obvious that the song given to Suzanne was going to be a tear jerker no matter how she performed to it..she was quite obviously favoured & Chris & Zaraah were the gap fillers in the Suzanne show..& it was WRONG!

She could've won WITHOUT all of that.

Sorry, Crissie, but I have to amicably disagree. Frankly I thought it was a dead cert that Chris would win. Of course the judges and T&D were biased toward Suzanne, her performance on the night was stunning, how could they not be?

Chris had a slip, and a slip is a slip in points. You don't win points for a mistake, you lose them, even though he handled it with great panache. It was unfortunate, but then his flying (landings especially) were a bit clunky - nothing to do with his weight being a factor.

To be honest, if I was judging on the final night alone I would have ranked Zaraah above Chris - which, in the great scheme of things would be monstrously unfair as overall he was a brilliant contestent and better than her.

I think justice was done.

IMO

Chris was the better weekly
Chris and frankies Bolero was better

but like any cup Final , Suzanne was better on the night and the 6's said it all , that would have swayed a few voters , and the Bolero wasn't marked as such just a negative comment from Robin saying Chris wasn't fun .. Its the Bolero ...??

Suzanne was better on the night , but overall I enjoyed 10 week s... was it 9 ? any way I enjoyed 2 months of good Sunday TV Entertainment , with Greg being the Ultimate in Entertainment ... now I may just have to return to my normal Sunday routine of Sunday Pub Karaoke ( well I haven't been out since New year)

I know Pinkfish, I feel bereft!

Like strictly, it was a show that i could watch with my children and discuss at work the next day.

Great fun, and great entertainment!

Well, I'd like to wholeheartedly agree with you, I almost immediately recognised that the final was geared up for a "Suzanne win". The flying, for a start should not imo been put in the final, as it obviously relies on gracefulness, which more than likely is going to be achieved best by a female. I thought Chris did absolutely marvellous considering. Also that Suzanne's routine was "bigged up" from the start, and was much more action packed than Zarrah's
She went on last, and despite what anyone says, it does make a difference. Zarrah should have been put on last.
I'm not saying Suzanne didn't deserve her sixes, but I feel that the other two, Chris especially, were undermarked.

I am disappointed!

Just to remind people - (I'm the OP by the way) - that I DON'T actually think it was a fix. I don't want to get into trouble!

But I can understand how Chris fans are disappointed.

lol 'its a fix'...

Zaraah was my fave too but im glad she made it to the final and what beautiful performances she gave diamonds and pearls was so lovely.

Suzanne was the deserved winner though she was the best on the night the GBP got it right, Chris however was good and I do feel sorry for him but he was brilliant week by week...He should be so proud of himself.

People seem to be forgetting that flying as a discipline was in last year's final and Kyran won.

Chris lost because Suzanne turned in a blinder of a performance on the night. Chris is, I expect most people will agree, the best skater ever on DOI, but he didn't quite deliver to his usual stunning standard for the final.

What has Zarrah got to do with it Voting started again after Zaraah left. Clean sheet. Going last in head to head was seen as the worst in X-Factor final. Pages & pages of why Rhydian lost because he went last.

Suzannes flying was fab, and deserved the 6s the next dance i did not like at all but for me chris and frankies Bolero was much better then suzannes.

Without a doubt they wanted Suzanne to win. I mean, even the presenters were showed standing in front of her family with all the "Vote Suzanne" posters

Oh yes that's right they did stand in front of Suzanne's fans (which obviously made everyone instantly jump up and run to the phone and vote for Suzanne regardless of any actual skating) but only after they'd been standing in front of the Team Fountain fans for ages before the ad break.

You could argue the other way, in that they showed Team Fountain fans before the break, so everyone would run to the phones and vote Chris before the break but they only showed Suzanne's fans after the break when the show was starting again so people wouldn't want to go and vote then for Suzanne....ooooh must be a fix!

None so blind as those who will not see - did you completely miss the Team Fountain t shirts?

Chris was great - on the night Suzanne was better.

Mind you I understand the meaning of gutted - that's how I felt last year when Real Madrid put paid to Liverpool's hopes of another Champion's League/European Cup title.

Now perhaps if I dig deep enough I could come up with a conspiracy theory

I don't see how the public vote could be fixed, even if the judges try to influence it; and I think the judges actually gave marks consistent with the performances and judged what they saw presented to them on the night.

Last year Clare Buckfield also won the final with two 29.5's, but lost the public vote to Kyran Bracken. Kyran was the favourite to win, as Chris had been the favourite.

So why did Suzanne win ? She really had something special, you could sense it in the first routine, the flying; and she kept that in Music - but her Bolero was not that brilliant, and I think the Snake Charmer wasted too much time and she would have been better doing intricate steps there; but by then she had already won. She simply had star quality on the night, whereas Chris was great but he was lacking a certain something.

Last year Kyran had the star quality. Clare skated better but did not make you think from the very beginning, she had something special. At the end of the day, star quality is presentation skills, you watch someone and they are so good they are hypnotic.

Why Chris did not have it ? I think actually he is too good a skater and not a good enough ice dancer. He actually performs too fast for the audience to appreciate what he is doing, whereas Kyran would present everything at the right speed for the audience to see.

You could not take your eyes off Suzanne's first two performances, not for a second. Kyran at his best is like this.

Kyran vs Suzanne, the best male and female ice dancers ? They should do a champion of champions. Who would win ? My money's on Suzanne at the moment.

I've been trying all way through the series to come up with a reason why I wasn't blown away by Chris because ts obvious he is a brilliant skater. What you've said here, has hit the nail on the head for me. I was always thinking he skated to fast to be able to put any finesse into the routines. So whilst you couldn't fault the skating, it wasn't as enjoyable to watch as I always found Suzanne and Gareth's.

I loved watching Kyran in last years shows, but having seen him perform in Holiday On ice last month, I really didn't think he was as good as I'd remembered him being. Perhaps he was having an off-night, but friends who saw him on different days thought the same.

At the moment I would say Suzanne is the best overall performer they've ever had on DOI.
