There's just something so incredibly likeable about Jason. He's got a really lovely face and a sweet voice with the slightest edge.

Randy's comments: "What's going down"
Have you noticed when he asks that, it usually means he doesn't like it?
Yup, you were right again Lindy!

"Yesterday" - Oh no! There are a million ways to get it wrong and only a couple to get it right.

Carly has become one of my least favorites. She has one of the better voices but she is not one of the better singers this season because of how she (mis) uses her voice....She sounded great when she began blackbird....but then, she once again tried to sing notes she cant in ways she cant....and all the worse this time because this song had no place for it.
She is more alison moyet than anne wilson. I fronted a Heart tribute band for a while,so when she attempted to sing 'crazy on you' a couple of weeks ago, I knew note for note exactly how far short of the mark she fell. She should never have tried that song. Unless someone has the voice type which makes singing it natural and effortless, that song and songs like it are a very bad idea.
It is uncomfortable to listen to when she forces and shouts...mostly because she really does have the potential to sound fantastic if she would just stop trying too hard, and stop trying to be what she is not.
I hope she gets a song for next week that she cannot oversing, because if she calms down, she could sound lovely.

SHE SEEMS TO BE DOING A PRETTY GOOD JOB OF IT SO FAR.

Didn't like: Changing "She" to "He" not really needed and not something I approve of. And the show off bit in a song that isn't a show off number.

Other than that, not bad at all. Certainly better than some others.

Really nicely sung but mostly uninteresting and predictable. Not my thing.

And are they bloody kidding?! Another ad break!

(trying to post along as i remember the performances, saw them the night they aired)
Syesha was a little off pitch at the end of some phrases, but it seemed to be because she was not staying on the melody when 'runs' may have clashed with the sparse acompaniement....all the same, she sounded beautiful, and I loved the performance overall.
She actually reminded me of Leona Lewis a bit (not comparing their voices, but the style and tone in places was similar-in a good way)

I liked him. He's good fun. His phenominal instrument playing with his one note at the end!

My question - were they allowed to sing any Beatles song they liked? And if so why didn't they choose the more famous ones as I think they would have done a better job of them.

I confess to not having been an avid American Idol viewer in previous years. Is this year much weaker than previous years though?

Question: Why is the "rock singer" always allowed to sing rock?

When that happens in the X factor, people call them a one trick pony. They did with Ray and his "Swing sound" every week.
