O.K who has had enough of this idiot

Judging does not consist of insultng people and making personal remarks

It's true. He is too happy to tell the whole world who's his fave, and who's not. Even Craig never went to the press. If any judge on SCD did that, they would be absolutely torn apart by the public and the BBC.

Thats the difference between public funded TV & commercial TV. ITV does not have to answer to the public but BBC do as we pay the licence (not that they take much notice)

I think he's extremely rude and makes unnecessary personal attacks on competitors, but a lot of the time he does make quite apt comments which the other members of the panel seem to pussyfoot around. Chris WASN'T great in the flying element, nothing wrong with saying that. And I think when Aggi was up against the big guy (forgotten his name! Olympic winner) he was cruel but right when he said he wished that he could vote them both out.

Anyway, let's face it, he's there as the Simon Cowell of the panel. He does what he's paid to do.

Simon Cowell is Mr Nasty but with a suspected soft centre (now proved apparently) but Jason Gardiner is Mr Personally Insulting witha mysoginistic centre. Fair enough to say both Aggi and Greg should go but not to say Aggi looks like an OAP and Greg looks like Herman Munster. He is no oil painting himself to be fair and he looks far older than 34.

Well, when the series starts, when the skaters are not that good, I actually tune in partly to see the skating, but actually to see and hear Jason's insults and nasty comments, and he is there DELIBERATELY to make nasty remarks to get the crowd to hiss him like a pantomime villain, and to get sympathy for the less good skaters, because you can see it both ways - okay, he is nasty and cruel, but usually when they give a poor performance, but you actually sympathise with the skaters more - now, if you had more straightforward judging and remarks, the poor skaters would get less sympathy because people would not think the judges were being too hard on them. Jason is certainly necessary in the start and middle of the series, until only the best skates remain; and after that, near the end, he actually makes nicer comments because the ice dancing is better.

Spot on! I'm with you 100%! Jason is THERE to make comments like that, that's why they employ him... so that we all start talking about his comments... AND it's working! I love him, and have always seen it as very panto!

Imagine if the judges were all the same, all judged on the same thing and were all perfectly pleasant... well that would be bland and boring!

I don't understand why people ae so offended by Jason, I personally find him quite hilarious, and often his comments are pretty accurate. Think of all the stars that have reacted and pulled up their performances based on his comments!

What's the difference between a semi-finalist and a finalist?

Jason's comments are almost always accurate and if teh crowd would stop hissing and booing the minute he opened his mouth then people might hear that he follows up the 'personal' comment with constructive critisism on how to improve and how the skater can get a higher mark from him.

I'd rather ban the audience (and Holly) from speaking while judges give their verdict.

Insults or not, Jason's comments are almost always the most logical and straight-to-the-point. I tend to respect his opinion more than most of the other judges. Nicky and Robin have some rather strange opinions at times and Karen is swayed too much by feelings. Jason just says it.

Theres no way they will get rid of Jason no matter that we think he's rude etc.
As soon as he starts his rants like he did with Greg it gets people talking about the show and tuning in.
His mouthing off in the media gives the show a platform

At the expense of the contestants who he personal remarks about- He is out of order

Jason actually helps the show to work because in the beginning and in the middle there are some poor quality skaters, and by his nasty comments this distracts attention away from really substandard performers. They get much more sympathy because of him - take Greg for example - kept in by the public just to annoy Jason. When Jason gets nasty, the audience does not think, why is this skater so bad, why did the organisers choose such a bad skater ? Instead, the audience thinks, oh Jason's being a bit harsh. Give them another chance.

The audience has more patience with the poor quality performers precisely because Jason is cruel to them. Without him, there would be faint praise and faint criticism, which would not work well at all.

Anyway, he knows it's a pantomime act.

I agree that Jason goes overboard in his criticisms. He can be as sarcastic and unpleasant and scathing as he likes about the performances but the personal remarks are unacceptable.

However, I don't think he should be fired because he is almost always spot on in what he says. I just think that there needs to be more variation about which judges are asked to speak after each performance. Only two judges are asked to comment and Jason's nearly always one of them. If the other judges would get a chance to voice their opinions once in a while, then Jason would be quite so much of an issue.

Glad you all agree with my comment!

on skating he shouldn't be a judge, he is NOT a skater , amateur stating is judge on the difficultly and technical ability , although is is a score for presentation

which basically means

if the skater falls - points , if the skater didn't fall but was ok 0 points and if the skater jumped in the air really high , landed with grace and poise to the music +++ points
But DOI is not a sport Its a TV show and Jason is there because he DARES to Deflate the EGOS of the celebs who are more famous than him ... when I sit and watch Rubbish TV I cannot tell that actor he cannot act , Jason is doing what we all would love to do say it for TV

I say replace him with whom ???

well until there is a replacement we must keep the pantomime baddie on !!

Definatly.

He HAS to go.

Bring a NICE person in.

They've got to keep Jason because he is nasty, but what might be fun would be to have a DELIBERATELY nice judge, who is Jason's total polar opposite, because then the audience would have two people to focus on, and Jason would get all the hisses and boos and the NICE judge would get all the applause.
petertard

But who could you get who knows a bit about dancing and choreography and who is a nice guy ? It might be fun because when Jason makes a nasty comment, they would turn to NICEGUY who would say, "That was really very good. What you might do is...that would be even better. I'm very much looking forward to your next routine and hope you will be able to incorporate some of these suggestions..." The contrast would be great. Good cop, bad cop.

Don't be so daft. He's one of the most entertaining parts of the show - and they know it.

Dear Gawd NO!

The last thing we need is another Karen on the panel.

Jason is a pantomime villian who hangs out to dry the bad skaters and actually pretty much on the ball with his comments (wow, talk about a mixed metaphor!).

Jason should stay, ying and yang and all that, however his more vitriolic comments - in particular to Aggie MacKenzie and Kelly Holmes - were pushing it a bit too far

You could see they were struggling, and his comments only magnified their fear

Too much, too much...

I agree we can't bring somebody nice in... we'd all fall asleep...

That said I love Karen, in fact I like all the judges and the diversity. I like that Karen judges more emotionally, and looks (even though I guess she's not really supposed to) but to the commitment made in training, and I think Jason is a nice counter balance.

For all those people that will whinge it's not fair, it's not fair, and then have big debates about how to make the marking perfect and a yawnsome bland, all the same judging panel etc... come on this isn't the Olympics.... it's an ITV reality show. Just chill, and we'll all be happy

If anything it's the booing audience that really annoys me. Most of the time Jason has fair points and I sometimes think the other judges are too nicey nicey. I think the contestants are getting paid, ane quite well too and whilst I think Jason should be asked to moderate some of his comments (his comments about Aggie were almost unforgiveable - I bet he'd have been annoyed if one of the judges had told Will that he looked like "a big poof"

But no I think people overreact to Jason at times. It's always the way in these shows. The audience/media pick on one judge and make them out to be some sort of villain when most of the time they're pretty reasonable. I thought Jason was very reasonable all the way through last night and just because he dared to make one negative comment about Chris (a quite accurate comment, too!) he was booed and shouted down. I found the behaviour of the crowd and the judges to be less acceptable on that call, to be honest.
