I didn't really understand Harry_Greenwood's post either. None of his postings on DS seem to make much sense!

so dont bull sh&t here to impress Tiscali as anything but RUBBISH”

I don't think it is fair to attack Peter in the way you are doing. I agree with you that the service is awful as I have experienced the woeful customer service first hand and this was one of the reasons why I left for Sky, but I will back Peter in saying that you have never had to pay £250 quid to get the box repaired. That isn't the case and if anything Tiscali offer a better service than say BT Vision, who's service is truly awful and just a glorified Freeview box!!
Peter as I have said, it isn't because I am a Sky subscriber or anything like that. Over the past 6 years I have had Telewest cable, Homechoice/ Tiscali and now Sky. The reasons for changing to each are varied, but I have only left Tiscali TV BECAUSE of there pathetic customer service and their lack of technical expertise. As a HOMECHOICE customer I was happy, as a Tiscali customer I wasn't. I have thus far had no problems with Sky and am far happier with the service I am receiving and in some ways I wished that my last landlord at the last property I lived in had allowed us to have Sky in the first place.
The only gripe I have Peter is that if anyone seems to have the slightest problem with the service or they are disgruntled in anyway you defend Tiscali like you own it and then bite the proverbial head of of anyone who dares to disagree with you!! Have you ever thought of taking anger management??

no doubt one of the reasons youve never seen anyone pay £250 for a stb replacement (a stupid statement in itself tbh as i somehow dont think you know every single tiscali customer) more than likely anyone in there right mind who has a tiscali box and it gets damaged if told they have to pay £250 would probably just terminate there service.
contracts are on a 12 month basis and with an average bill of £30 a month then anyone with 8 months or less left its cheaper to cancel and go elsewhere.
either that or do a hunt on ebay, plenty of old customers who never had there box collected selling em cheap on there.

Is there some sort of competition to post illegible comments?

Let's be clear though - Tiscali do not charge for faulty set top boxes.

If you break the STB your renting from them than you have to pay for the replacement, if it just goes wrong and a new one is needed the engineer will just swap the faulty one for a working one.

Sky Sell their boxes to customers because even if your not subscribing you can still receive TV via it, the difference with Tiscali is that if you dont subscribe and have the signal coming down your phone line the box is not going to do anything, so it would be a bit cheeky of them to sell the box, hence they just lend it to you.
