How big is your room? - for me you have to be at least 10 - 12 feet from the screen to get a decent SD pic on a 42.
37" plasma is also sharper than 42" If your looking at 42" screens plasma would be your best bet. LCD STILL suffers from backlight problems and motion blur. there is a 42" version of this TV TH42PX80 |

![]() I have a Panasonic and the HD picture via Sky HD is fantastic. Are there really any TVs that are better for Sky HD at a similar price with equally good SD pictures? |

Can anyone really tell the difference with 1080 p on a 37 inch? I thought it only really mattered for very big screens.

1080i and 1080P are both the same resolution, no different scaling takes place, or is required.

Resolution is not a good indication of image quality; think about it this way, I could buy a 20 Megapixel digital camara on ebay for £49. But is it going to produce better images than a 6 Megapixel Canon SLR costing £800 ? No. -Chris |

That TV is most definitely HD which is what the OP asked for. If you must correct other peoples posts at least make sure you know what you're writing about.
How many HDTVs are there on sale these days that are not HD.....jeeez |

Dont be stupid, the HD picture would wipe the floor with any 1080p TV that you could buy for £500 to £700.

Obviously all HD ready TVs are HD. You've got me baffled here, you stated earlier the particular TV was not HD (which it clearly is) have you now changed your mind?
P.S. Are you a troll? the only thing I said was its "HD ready , not full HD" I never said it wasn't HD (which it clearly is) Get your facts straight. PS. are you a a wind up merchant? |

the first reviews of the Panasonic TH37Px80 are coming in aswwll as Internet posts. All are very posative of a super HD picture that's sharp and LCD smashing. I could confidently say that yes this tv in overall pic quality would beet a latest top range Sony LCD. It maybe Sony but the LCD crapness still shines through. 1080p is a gimick and is noticabe on 42" and above screens. Also the panasonic has been reported as having a 1080p chip that scales the image down with fantastic restult

the trouble is eeking out the difference between the set with the best picture and the best overall tv. I would say the Philips would do very well - and would usually beat things like Sonys and Panasonics, but do you want to risk a Philips for a slightly better picture, or go for the safer options such as Sony and Panasonic but with a slightly less good picture.
