2 minute SR/AR Reording
dougk
21-03-2008
Only got two minutes of Trial and Retribution lat night on ITV (Bildsale transmitter).... Why ? No clashes.

Why does 2 minutes seem a common amount of time to record?

I seem to be having more problems with my Humax's SR/AR since I had it repaired under warranty (they fitted a replacement 1.1 board when I had a 1.0 board before). Yes it has been set to defaults, the hard drive was formatted so its not that. Unfortuantely the warranty has now expired so if its anything to do with the replacement board I am stuck with it.

Is there any chance that the different version boards cause issues?

Last weekend Dancing on Ice failed to start recording at all!

There are three 'separate' components in the 9200T; the power supply, the HDD and the motherboard.

I don't see why replacing the motherboard would cause 'incompatibility' problems with the other two components.

The problem, I expect, is to do with either your tuned channels and/or your timer settings. Do you have channels with number greater than 800?

The same thing has happened to me for the past two weeks. Luckily I noticed the first week and was able to record the rest of the programme. I was looking out for it to happen again this week. It would be the Broadcaster, not your box. Sutton Coldfield transmitter.

Maybe this is a coincidence, but last week's recording of 'Trial and Retribution' resulted in two occurrences in my recorded programmes list. One was from 21:00 - 21:02 and the second was from 21:02 - 22:00. I have this set as a series link.

I guess I should consider myself lucky, at least the programme did record and just accepted it as one of those mysteries of life not worth bothering with!

I also got this (Winter Hill). I was also recording Ashes to Ashes at the same time.
What alerted me (watching another recording at the time) was that I saw a "scheduled recording start" banner which I wasn't expecting. When I checked Trial & Retribution had stopped after 2 mins then restarted (beginning at the Sainsburys advert) automatically & continued to the end.
This also happened with the last episode (last week ?) but, to be honest I ignored it!
I've not seen it happen with any other recordings & my Humax is bog standard, never had any repairs.
Reminded me of bad days of PDC on BBC1 when, sometimes I'd get lots of start/stop/start flags sent to VCR & end up with about 10 mins of an hour long program !

Same happened to me with 2mins of Trial and then, as a separate record, the full program picking up from 21.02. Using series link with broadcasts from Winter Hill. No other recording issues and must assume that this must be a broadcaster error. Hope so.

What I was meaning was the firmware "seemed" to behave better with the v1.0 board as to the v1.1 board. I therefore wondered whether the revision of the board made any difference in ralation to the firmware ... what are the differences in the board - eg are any IC'S different versions?

As others have said I suppect its the broadcasters not sending correct accurate data again............................

I have to report again another 2 minute recording on ITV - this time He kills Coppers - just two minutes recording
Spotted it so only lost 5 mins and done an instant record...

Anyone else had this tonight?

Yes, me. Sutton Coldfield transmitter. Didn't spot it until 20 mins into the programme. Annoying isn't it?

Similar issue with HKC - but I noticed the recording symbol had gone from the EPG shortly before the programme was due to start. I had near-consecutive recordings on other channels at around that time, so maybe the box decided it would drop this one, then changed its mind, twice! I re-scheduled the mid-week repeat.

I've also seen the issue noted above with T&R, but on another programme, on BBC4. The first recording was an overrun of the previous programme, the second covered the actual, delayed programme. That was before the latest update, but with SL.

Posted this yesterday under the "Short recordings" thread at the same time as this thread was being posted. Thought I would repeat it here to give some continuity.

".......Has done it twice today on "Nanny McPhee" and "Who kills coppers" We take transmission off Caldbeck which is being rebuilt at the moment for Digital could this be a possible cause?.......

Is SC having similar work done?

Again, from a Toppy perspective (as I'm able to see the full scheduled buffer and the AR markers). Yesterday via Crystal Palace:

Nanny McPhee: first marker at start of ad break before film started, end marker at end of film.

HKC: first marker during ad break before start. No end marker.

Me too with HKC. (Winter Hill).
Didn't notice until I tried to watch later.
Only thing I could do was look for a repeat next Thursday !
