Cheap Wireless Media Players
I have my only pc connected to my router in the next room via a wireless adapter. I want to access all my media downstairs on my tv. Will a wireless media player be ok for this given that my router isnt wired into my pc?
If so, any suggestions of a decent cheap one? On a budget of £50. Thanks. |

I went through the 'should I get a media player' bit but then ended up buying a secondhand Dell Small Form Factor PC for the lounge £85 on ebay. It's a good spec P4 but a much less powerful one would do the job.
I have wired access to the router - but I imagine it could be wireless - I can stream stuff from the other PC or move the external HDD to the Dell and play it direct - and now with stuff like iplayer and catchup we can use the PC for the full range of media tasks. I can also use VLC to play unedited *.ts dumps from my Humax - you can't do that on a Netgear streamer. I work it with an 8 quid wireless mouse from Tesco and use the MS 'virtual' keyboard - All Programs - Accessories - Accessibly - On-Screen Keyboard |
