PS3 Sound help
Hello, well i have a PS3 which is connected to a dav-dz830w. I am not happy with the sound that i am getting out of this and i think the problem could be the dav-dz830. Should i buy a new amp? Also the bass that im getting out of the dav-dz830 is low is there any way of increasing the bass?
My setup: Samsung 52" = 3 HDMI ports 1port = skyhd 2port = ps3 3port = dav-dz830 PS3 audio PS3 connected to dav-dz830 via optical |

you have a very similar set up to me mate
Samsung ps42c7hdx plasma PS3 Sky HD Archos 704 Sony Str-De485 av amp Basically its the dav thats letting you down. If you dont have an optical input on the dav then you wont be getting digital sound from the PS3, just pro logic at best. The aux inputs on a dav are poor and the volume/bass levels acheiveable are limited. With a sony STR amp (theres load of different models) you have seperate optical inputs for the Sky HD and PS3 to give 5.1 as much as possible. I got the amp in January off ebay for under £50 and bought a JBL surround speaker set and active subwoofer, again off ebay, for £40 (was £200 new). You could use the dav speakers if you are on a budget for an upgrade but I would recommend a decent active subwoofer and speaker set if you want good bass and flexible settings. Any game on the PS3 shakes the light fittings at my house! PM me if you want more help. |

this is what I have
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=250202605890 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=160194597979 The only downside is that its an old amp with only 1 optical input but i'm happy with pro-logic from my sky HD until I get an optical splitter box. According to the reviews, the DAV you have is limited on sound quality so this is your weak spot. |

theres an optical input on the DAV so you could try this 1st but you can only connect 1 item, and theres an optical out on the sky HD and PS3. This is the restriction I have but later Sony STR amps have 2 or more optical inputs.
You would get 5.1/DTS from the PS3 on 1 input and 5.1 where available on sky on the other input. Try an optical cable from the ps3 1st off but I would think, looking at the reviews on the DAV, you are always going to struggle for sound quality due its limitations. An AV reciever is far more flexible for a quality sound set-up. Also, it doesnt say if the DAV Sub is active (mains powered) or just runs off the main unit? This could be another limitation to you system |

this would handle what you want, if you dont want to use the amp as a video driver.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SONY-SURROUND-...QQcmdZViewItem You would need 1 (or 2) active subwoofers with this amp (god knows what 2 would be like, I have 1 set on 3 out of 10 and that enough!) |

i'm not sure if they do one, Google does'nt bring up much. Others may be able to help but there are better subs out there than Sony.
