Sorry guys, but you keep using my quote about whether she knew about her Les Mis part during Nancy School or not, for your comments on whether she was right for the either part or not, doesn't really make sense, did you mean to quote someone else
![]() I quoted Scarlett O'Hara, not you.

It also leaves egg on no ones face, Nancy is not Eponine. If anything her getting that part shows why she was unsuitable for Nancy, there are a few actors that could play both parts but I don't think she was one of them.
The current 12 are a very diverse bunch and quite a few of them stray from the original 'street urchin, diamond-in-the-rough' brief. It's years since I saw Les Mis so I can't remember what 'type' Eponine is, but what I do know (on the strength of what I saw in Week 1) is that Nancy Nancy absolutely met the criteria that Lloyd Webber and Co were discussing. And judging from this thread, so do a lot of other people. Unless of course we're all really crap armchair judges.

I have to say I agree with apib and Mr Spielberg. Yes, she made a good impression in the first show, but to be fair we only saw a tiny percentage of what she and everyone else was doing. It's not much to make a judgement on. It has all worked out very well for her, she's landed a role that most girls would give their back teeth for. It's time to move on.
![]() Casting's a very subjective game, always was and always will be. |

![]() Casting's a very subjective game, always was and always will be. This is very true, and yes, we can't carry on grumbling about something over which we have no control - Nancy is not Nancy: Nancy is Eponine. ![]() But (sorry, can't quite move on yet ) I thought DVO was being pretty subjective crying her eyes out when Nancy sang and, to judge by the comments on this thread, she wasn't the only one who was moved to tears. If that had been a straightforward audition, I cannot believe she wouldn't have advanced much further, given that five star performance.I have simple and sentimental tastes when it comes to casting this musical - I want to have a good old weep when Nancy sings As Long as He Needs Me, but only after I've bawled my eyes out when Oliver sings Where is Love. That's a thought - isn't Eponine like a female Oliver? |

I was speaking to a friend today, who works on Les Mis, and he told me how they are auditioning again, and I said "but they have only just auditioned" and he that, yes they had, but apparently Cameron Mackintosh came in and was not happy with a lot of them so apparently he wants to re-audition, now although there may be some truth in this I am not sure as ofcourse once contracts are signed thats it, but I was just wondering whether Nancy would have been affected by this. I hope not, that would be horrible for her,, for anyone!!!

It does make you wonder, in the audition stages they seemed to be 'bigging her up' then all of a suddened dropped her. Maybe she had some dark secret
. either way I think they made a mistake not putting her through to the live shows

I really liked Nancy Nancy too. But it's a bit too late to be bitter about it.
I think they use clever editing to make you attatched to contestants who don't get through (Burger King girl, Nancy Nancy, the woman with the kid (Sarah Jane?), The Opera singer girl...) Then when they leave it's supposed to make you think "wow, the final 12 must be amazing if they get through over these people..." I kind of wish they used more of that time to give us an insight into the final 12. I don't even remember seeing Naihm, Rachel, Ashley or Tara in Nancy school, and the rest (bar Jodie) barely featured at all. |

She was my favourite too.
But, no matter how many times ALW says he's looking for 'raw talent' we all know he'll choose the stage-school darling like he did the last twice (Sadly, it'll probably be DVO's mate who had a lot of tonight's show dedicated to her inability to sing and has already been in 'Rent') anyway, glad nancy has gone on because i just watched her again in clips and she was just fab. |

Someone has managed to put a good sound quality version of Nancy Sullivan singing On My own from Les Mis on youtube.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3MXy...eature=related There's also this interesting little piece which suggests more about why she's Eponine (and hopefully will be for much longer) and not Nancy. http://www.icsouthlondon.co.uk/tn/ne...%20help%20kids |

http://www.bbc.co.uk/oliver/video/in...week=9&video=4
Interesting looking back at this one from the IDA audition stage. Nancy Sullivan is the second audition. I think the first is Katie Hall http://www.bbc.co.uk/oliver/video/in...week=6&video=8 who went on to be the understudy for Christine in Phantom. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlpihMLLfbQ According to the folks at whatsonstage she may be following Leanne from HDYSAPLM as Cossette in Les Mis from June. Eponine and Cossette in one IDA clip.........its a small world. It kinda suggests why some people figure largely in the early shows like IDA even though they don't get taken up for the show thats being cast. It certainly suggests it may be worth turning up for an ALW show audition. |
