I like the young Irish girl, Jessie I think her name is? I'm backing her right now, but that'll probably change by tonight! Really loved Nancy, it's a real shame she went

Can't wait for the show tonight!

The red haired Irish girl was the star for me.

Samantha and Jodie to win all the way.

I loved Jodie and although Sam is 17, I think she could easily play Nancy, very mature performance.

I thought Francesca was awlful considering she is professional and Cleo was bad too.

Tara was the worst though, truly awlful, more a performance for down the pub than the west end, she has to go.

Interesting that everyone seems to think that Francesca has it sewn up - my impression was that the panel were all backing Rachel, even though I thought her performance was quite weak. Is she the chosen one - the Lee Mead of the Nancys??

I can't make my mind up yet. I liked Francesca, Jessie and Sarah tonight. It will be interesting to see who is in the sing off.

I think Rachel is the Lee Mead of the show. Sarah was my favourite.

I've been reading through all your comments about Nancy's age and it's made me look up more about the original Nancy, who was 17 years (as you've said) and had been prostituted by Fagin since she was 6. I think that now that I wouldn't want a Nancy as womanly as in the film Oliver! I'd much rather she seemed younger, a girl who is vulnerable and has been damaged but is a survivor; a girl who struggles with doing the right thing because she needs Bill to love her.
Like some of you have said, it's all about the acting, and I wish we could see more of their acting so we can judge better who to vote for. I thought that with Maria and Joseph too, but it's even more important here.

And I agree that I wish we could know who Bill Sykes is to be- or at leas the age they're going for. I really like Niamh, for instance, at the moment, but if he's too much older than his Nancy it might not be so good. What does anyone else think?

I loved Sarah - so expressive - I also loved Jodie who pulled you in to the song she sang and the Irish girl - amazing voice and very gutsy, Francesca something about her - I could see her as Nancy - but the girl who had the street cred for me was Cleo her voice was weaker than some but I thought she had the edge needed. It will be interesting to see who goes through.

I loved Keisha as well but thought she was a bit too polished for Nancy.

Sorry just need to clarify, I donr think she has been prostituted from 6 years of age, but she has been on the strees since that time and not long after with Fagin, and then eventually prostituted.

Hey Playhousechick - thanks, you're right! I was just being lazy in the detail I wrote and took a shortcut too many!

On last night's performance it would be Jodie for me; but........and it's a big but, a cockney accent is essential. It will be interesting to see how many of the girls from ouside London master it.

The two that really stood out for my were Jessie and Niamh, I thought they were both vocally strong and although they were two very different songs I thought they both really captured the audience. Also, they were the only two, so far, that I could imagine in the role, though I'm sure that will change as the show goes on.

I haven't read every post in the thread, so apologies if this has already been discussed.

Does anything think that Keisha is far too confident and cocky? Something about the way she behave just doesn't sit right with me
