David Cook - Fell On Black Days by Soundgarden.

Brooke - Feed The Tree by Belly.

Carly - Feeling Good (The Muse version)

Michael - He should do another INXS song as that was by far his best performance, for me.

I can't really think of anything for the others as they don't really remind me of other artists.

Wouldn't mind hearing the Manics arrangement of Umberella done by David C, plus, although I would imagine it's not well known enough for Idol, I'd love to hear him do Rufus Wainwright's 14th Street.

There are a lot of songs and genres each singer could do. But for now I have chosen four songs each. If not it will become 'song choice overload'.

Brooke White:Karen Carpenter; 'Yesterday once More', Carole king; 'You've got a friend', Joni Mitchell; 'Help me, Linda Ronstadt; 'You're no good'.

Carly Smithson: Everesence (something by them), Christina Aguilera; Hurt, Etta James; 'Tell Mama', Kelly Clarkson; Since you've been gone.

David Archuleta:Elton John; 'Daniel', Elvis Presley; 'Never walk alone', Marvin Gaye; 'Mercy, Mercy me', Sam Cooke; 'Bring it all home to me'.

David Cook:Free;'Alright now', Bruce Springston; 'Born to run', The Temptation; 'Ain't too proud to beg', David Bowie; 'Young American'.

Jason Castro: James Taylor; 'Fire and Rain', Eagles; 'Hotel California'/ 'Take it easy', The Byrds; Mr Tamborine Man, Elvis Presley; 'Bridge over troubled water'.

Kristy Lee Cook: Loretta Lynn; 'There he goes', Patsy Cline; 'You belong to me', Dolly Parton; 'I will aways love you', Tammy Wynette; 'Stand by your man'.

Michael Johns: Otis Redding 'Try a little tenderness', Van Morrison; 'Brown Eyed girl', U2; With or Without you' Bob Marley;'No Woman no Cry'.

Ramiele Malubay:Freda Payne; 'Band of Gold', Aretha Franklin; 'until you come back to me', Diana Ross; Missing you', Anita Baker; 'Sweet Love'.

Syesha Mercado: Roberta Flack; 'Killing me softly, Diana Ross; Baby love', Aaliyah 'One in a Million', Norah Jones; Smooth, Free and Mellow'

Thats it.

Kristy (as opposed to Brooke) has already done You're No Good, very well I thought. Brooke could probably sing it quite well too but doesn't she see the good in everyone?

David C's done All Right Now too, it was great! Both these performances were from the top 20.

Other than that, great song choices - I don't know all of the songs, but the ones I do know suit the contestants you chose them for - especially the ones I've mentioned in the past! Lol

I've managed to think of songs for the girls for Country night, not sure about the guys yet though.

Brooke - Rose Garden (Lynn Anderson)
Carly - This Kiss (Faith Hill)
Kristy - Coat Of Many Colours (Dolly Parton) - I want Dolly to pimp Kristy as much as she can this week, and this is Dolly's favourite of her own songs!
Ramiele - What Hurts The Most (Rascal Flatts, segue into the Cascada version)
Syesha - That Don't Impress Me Much - Shania Twain (could be in trouble, needs something fun which people actually know!)

Am I correct in thinking that a country theme/Dolly Parton week is coming up? One of my workmates (Rachel, you are a genius) thinks that David C should sing Jolene...

He could probably pull it off, but lyrically it might be a bit strange

Please don't take her just because you can

Whole new slant?

I think Carly would actually sound wonderful vocally if she chose a faith hill ballad like breathe or this kiss. (I personally don't lke this kind of music, but think carly could make this kind of song sound great if she gives it just enough, but not too much, of an edge.)She is also the only female contestant left with a strong enough tone to do justice to a patsy cline ballad.
Syesha could easily manage a good rendition of the leann rimes version of 'unchained melody'...different from the Kellie Pickler rendition, probably a less strong performance but a more comfortable vocal. She could be great with 'why haven't i heard from you'.there are a couple of martina mcbride songs she would sound lovely singing as well. For upbeat country/pop crossover, cant fight the moonlight by leann rimes would be a great song for her, too.
Kristy needs to go with easy vocals, and fortunately for her, that leaves her with most of country music to choose from. Any shania or leann womack song would work for her.If she were to choose a better-known cheryl crow song and put in a good performance, it would likely save her for another week, as the country/pop/lite-rock crossover would appeal to a lot of people .

For Brooke, leann womack-i hope you dance could be a lovely song choice. Or maybe 'the dance'....i could see her sounding wonderful singing it, and the way she connects with songs, if she connected with this one, it could be amazing.

I wonder who will sing the thunder rolls, David C, or Michael.

I'd like Kristy to sing Wild Angels this week, I loved when Carmen did it in series 2
