Evening Candidates. First piece of news is there are no team changes. Now, onto the task...
Today just happens to be my birthday. And later this evening, I am having a birthday dinner with the Queen and the Prime Minister. Which is why this task is extra special because you have 24 hours to complete it.
However, because of the length of time you will have three tasks to complete.
Before any of your tasks, I want you to design a business. This business can be any business but it must be based on the theme of birthdays. Then....
Task One: Draw up a business plan which must include:
- A business description
- A business aim
- How you might attract customers
- Where you may base your business
- Any other information you feel appropriate to include
Task Two: Imagine your business is holding a special offer on one of your products/services. Design a poster advertising the offer.
Task Three: Imagine you require an investment. Write a speech that could persuade a business man to invest in your business.
If your team wins a task, you win a point. The team with the most points wins!
Managing this task will be crucial so pick your PM wisely. I would like a private message from the project manager of each team as soon as possible letting me know the type of business you are starting. If i feel it does not meet the theme, i will ask you to change it.
Then, tomorrow, at 7:00 task one will be presented. 7:15 - task two. Finally, 7:30 - task three. Then, at 7:45, the losing team will face the boardroom, and two of you will be fired.

Before the party a cleaning service comes to the location of the party and cleans the location up as well as getting instructions from the host on how to set the party up. After the party is finished, the cleaning team will come and do the cleaning, tidying everything up and doing a whole range of cleaning tasks to make the location immaculate.

To give the host a stress free pre party when they’re trying to organise other aspects of their party, they at least can rest assured that their party locations will be tidy and organised ready for their party and that afterwards when they’re ill with a hangover they don’t have to worry about cleaning up as someone else will do it for them relatively cheaply and also if the location there party is using is a one which they don’t own and they have to get it tidy by a certain time, the cleaning team and our business will ensure it is so without any hassle or worry from the Host of the party, they can rest assured that the venue will be clean by a certain time.
ATTRACTING CUSTOMERS
We will try and attract customers through advertisement in yellow pages, on internet and a TV advert. We will also try and attract customers through giving them a free trial for the first time they use the service and the use of a £5 off voucher if they use our service more than twice. The fact they will get £5 off the entire price of the service will make the overall cost a bit cheaper and will make our party cleaning business a really cheap business and as well as this we would attract customers as there are no other businesses quite like ours as no cleaning service would work late hours such as 2am to clean a location if the venue had to be cleaned by say 4 or 5am, no cleaning service would offer big discounts to loyal customers and no cleaning service would do a before and after service and help set up the party exactly the way the customers wanted it, these are all unique selling points to the customer. We also would have a website where people could book the service online providing they’re having one of their parties in one of the major cities and we could contact them from their details to double check, obviously this would be an easier way for us to do the task.

We would base our business in 5 different locations in 5 major cities. Newcastle, Manchester, Liverpool, London and Birmingham. This is because we felt it would be good to open the cleaning service to 5 big cities known for their night life, culture and party lifestyle where there would be a lot of work for our cleaning service and where it would come in handy.
FURTHER COMMENTS
We would also hand out Feedback forms where people could give us an entire range of comments about our work giving pros and cons and how we could improve, showing us as a serious business who takes the opinions of our customers very seriously indeed.
