I think I remember the programme you are talking about I think it was caled Curtis Cals. Was the chef a baldy guy with glasses and when he was using a kitchen utensil he would come up really close to the camera and tell you what it was? ”

That's the one!!!! I'd love to see a rerun oft his, so I could make sure I didn't imagine it!! Being a student at the time I found it far better than daytime TV!

I used to quite like God's Gift! Davina always favoured the Irish guys and would get them to say "arse". Wonder if she'll do the same with Ray this week!

Anyone remember Get Stuffed? A bunch of unwashed students teaching you how to cook beans on toast.

I seem to have excised that from my brain. However, I'll take your word for it as there was a lot of s**t (cough, cough) on late at night then.

Yeah, I can remember the theme tune to that too - actually, if I remember theme tunes I remember the show better so obviously music is easier to remember than anything else.

A lot of it was like public access channels in the states and that one was a prime example.

I'll explain a bit more. Cookie was James Whale assistant, I believe she was black or mixed race and had the largest pair of breasts I'd ever seen at the time!!! She never really said much but used to hold up boards and things like that. I once saw her in a porn film on HVC!!!

Oh, thankyou. I don't remember, which perhaps only proves how drunk I was everytime James Whale was on, it being my student years.

I remember the phone-ins where people got away with a lot more than on live telly now because it was up to James himself to cut them off and they didn't have a delay before live.

Sorry to interrupt the nostalgia but i'm late to the thread and I just noticed how like a serial killer Cameron looks with the slicked down hair and flushed complexion and that too tight suit all buttoned up. He looks like he should be a character in a movie like 10 Rillington place. Dr. Stout comes to call and the patient never wakes up again. Give the guy a cheesewire and he'd look as scarey as a scarey person on scarey street.

oh and I remember all the shows you've mentioned fondly. Curtis from curtis calls used to give me nightmares. Really creepy little guy he was. And Wiggy on HM&H was really funny, and who could forget howard Donald jiggling his tush around eh? Spotty Howard.... ahhh memories.

10 Rillington Place is actually based on a real story. The case of Dr. John Christie. Not nice.

My cousin was at Manchester uni at the time and that programme was his bible. I swear he was so proud that he learnt to cook cheese toasties and spag bol whilst drinking cans of lager

And how much better was American Gladiators than our own version?

I don't remember too much from the Night Network era, but Whaley's show was responsible for bringing the genius and enigma that is Charlie Chuck to our late night screens, and for that alone James deserves an OBE. Charlie's a national treasure...!!!

Cookie/Kookie had pneumatic breasts and was always involved in games where she would be required to bend over. On the bad side, she sometimes looked like a bloke facially!

Cameron looks like Jeeves, which in insult to Stephen Fry's performance and should not go unnchallenged.

No they should not bring back the hitman and her. ....as if we don't have enough of Pete bloody Waterman on TV already. They always filmed it at awful clubs where the music was terrible.

Wasn't the wig guy called Clive? ...

JonDoe used to be regularly found at the orbit and later at various motorway service stations on the m62 and m1.

Yes you're quite right about The Hitman and Her, but they should bring back Get Stuffed. That became popular around the time that Cell Block H was on. That must have been about 13 years ago now. That was around the time I had my first born!!
My goodness was it really that long ago?

I am sure I saw Get Stuffed scheduled somewhere in my TV guide only this week. Maybe on Channel 3, but I can't be arsed to go and look.

Actually the night time TV then was better than whats on offer lately - baseball, football, American football, News 24, and OU. Not a lot to keep me awake when I am working a night shift I can tell you!
