It's a crap film. The original, with Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway, is so much better. There's the erotic chess game for a start. Less is more.

I wonder if Cameron will show Steph his Kasparov
”

I shudder at the thought.

I agree with you about the original, too - it's not surprising, your imagination has to be involved for something to be erotic in my opinion. Not many modern movies can do a good job, for that reason - we've become so used to seeing everything, if we don't it's just a cop-out and if we do, it's just flesh.

anyone know the Patsy Kensit movie Steph is trying to remember ? It has a Dusty Springfield song for the theme tune (she reckons)

The only one I can think of is Absolute Beginners which I havent seen, but Bowie sang that theme tune

Steph is an art lover right? She did say that she was an arty person right? A few weeks back she did say that didn't she? Said jackson pollock was a pile of crap? Her idea of an art gallery is probaly an Athena cards and posters shop. Airbrushed Garfield prints and fluffy kittens in hats postcards. Poker playing dogs. Babies in cutesy animal costumes Prole culture.

Betty blue, Diva, Women on the verge of a nervous breakdown, Jules et Jim, Peter Greenaway movies for me. Anything that isn't Hollywood. Or trite. Anything black and white from years ago. 1930's/40's movies are wonderful. Wuthering heights, Tale of two cities, wartime propaganda movies, Historical dramas. Thrillers. The original 'The 39 steps'. Anything Orson Welles. Hitchcock movies. John Huston movies. Alexander korda movies. Too much to even try to touch upon.

Cinema is a rich pool to swim in and the poisonous hamster just dismisses it as if it were nothing. In favour of what?

Monkey_thong, Steph is a philistine.

She represents everything about Middle England "culture" that we Brits should be utterly ashamed of. So completely insular and proud of it.

I'd like to know what Gaetano *really* thought about her.

Agreed. My favourite films include: Women On The Verge Of A Nervous Breakdown, Seven Samurai, Vertigo, Rear Window, Blade Runner, The Wicker Man, Get Carter, La Haine, the Three Colours trilogy, Requiem For A Dream, Brazil, Manhattan, Battle Royale, Nikita, Don't Look Now, Young Frankenstein, Black Narcissus, The Elephant Man, Suspiria, 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Maltese Falcon, Rashomon, Trainspotting, His Girl Friday, Jackie Brown. I could go on and on.

Bet Steph hates all of these.

Has she said what she does like though? This is what intrigues me. ( good choices BTW ) I want to know what Steph would settle down to watch.

Carry On At Your Convenience.

I wonder if she's ever seen The Stepford Wives with No No Nanette "My career should've ended in 1980, but thanks to Fairy it's gone on and on and on" Newman?

don't often disagree with you Ben, but..... please remove the " " from Middle England "culture". Middle England provided endless inspiration for our greatest film director, Michael Powell. Middle England ( along with the rest of the British Isles) gave up two generations of her sons in two world wars fought against tyranny, and would do so again. Middle England has given us writers, painters, musicians as well as millions of ordinary folk. Middle England was Tolkien's Shire ( specifically Warwickshire). No I don't want Steph to be cultural ambassador for Middle England, I would rather she wasn't even on my television , but I like Middle England, wherever and whatever it may be, not least because Middle England is scapegoated every time someone needs an easy target. **** the rocket salad and the chattering classes and the glitterati and the literati and the champagne socialists
of Islington and other wanky North London addresses. Give me Middle England. Burp.

Okay then. Just for you. Redditch then.

Seriously though, Steph is somewhat representative of a certain British mindset that I really deplore.

She's a simpleton with a big mouth and a malicious streak. She doesn't represent anything else to me.Well, maybe Redditch. That's quite enough though, I don't like her at all.

Disliking "Fear and Loathing" is yet another reason to like Steph, IMO.

Dreadful film.

the fewest votes ...

How come we don't get many links to our little chipmunk?

She is just luvely, witty, and charming.

If you were a girl, you would like her to be your best mate, and if you were a bloke, you would just want to "have a luvverly time" - or if you were Cameron you just wouldne know ... (that's his secret).

Have heard Steph and Cam are being linked to a British version of Will & Grace, or was that just a Bo Selecta dream?

Errr I am a girl and no thanks. Why would any girl want a best mate who starts slagging you off as soon as you leave the room?

Bte, good username.

Steph is a lovely girl. She does not mean it. I think it is her age - I mean, she is very young. That was why they wanted Anouska out.

By the way, anyone booked a holiday to the Midlands and Redditch to see if they can see her in the flesh.

(Going slightly off tangent, anyone know how the cute Tania is getting on with her West Ham beau - or is she going to be the next ex Footballer's wife?)

PPS If we all hate Steph, how come this did not translate into a backlash against Cameron (to leave her on her own with Nush looking daggers at her for the week).

I'd be hard pushed to disagree with her over Jackson Pollock - I think that his art is a pile of crap. But what else would you expect from CIA sponsored art? ("Controversial").
