Paying for TV Programmes on iTunes

I've noticed that a lot of people are commenting in their reviews on iTunes that they feel they shouldn't have to pay for TV programmes (particularly those offered by the BBC) for their iPod, on account of their having already paid their TV Licence. I just wondered if people think this is fair or otherwise- I mean, isn't the TV Licence the right to view rather than own? We don't go into HMV and demand BBC DVDs for free do we?

iTunes is a solely commercial portal, offering commercial content (BBC Worldwide is commercial). BBC worldwide selling its shows on iTunes in the UK is no different to it selling its shows on DVDs. On TV programmes in general, you have to pay for the music on your iPod (well legally anyway) so paying for video content should be no different.
Yes the price is a little high, that’s why I don’t use it. Is quite simple if you don’t like the price then don’t pay for it!

Fair does mate but where do Apple get off charging UK customers twice the amount of US customers, £1.80 vs $2.00 (about a pound)

For a start UK prices (for anything) include VAT and you also have to remember that pretty much everything costs more in the UK, it's in no way specific to iTunes.
