Projector V New TV
Hi all!
Was looking at getting a cheap new 42' LCD recently.. when someone suggested I looked at projectors. I found this on eBuyer for just £234! http://www.ebuyer.com/product/138928 It's DLP (rather than the LCD projectors I saw in PC World), 2000-3000 hours predicted bulb lifetime and 2000 ANSI Lumens brightness. Obviously, the bulbs do have a limited lifetime; but are the described specs pessimistic, so people don't moan if it goes early, but could actually last maybe 4,000 hours? Basically I'd be plugging into a DVD Player and an SD Sky Digibox on a splitter, and I already have a Surround sound system. At over half the cost of the cheapest 42' TV, it seems good! Bear in mind as well, I already have a white wall, a place to put it and it would be projecting onto a space of around 50' on the wall (so quite small relative to what it's capable of, but I assume that means it would be brighter!) |

All I would say is check the price of replacement bulbs (often VERY expensive, and personally I've never been very impressed by projectors, due to their obvious limitations.

My point being, if I could get up to 4000 hours/better life out of the bulb than advertised, I would be much more inclined to them - as a new projector every 2 years is about my usual 'upgrade time' anyway. |

If u go for a projector then this is the one u want for the right price........................Optoma HD65 DLP
.I have one of these and it is well impressive but however i would do a google and find out more on it regarding RBE. It as a 3 year warranty and the bulb which lasts about 3000 hours on standard costs around £95 |
