Help needed: Turned player off during copyright segment, now won't play that DVD
I was playing a pre-recorded DVD and it went into something about piracy and copyright at the end.
I didn't seem to be able to stop playing this, which was annoying, so I pushed the "off" button instead. Now I can't play that DVD. The player makes odd noises while trying to "read" it, then says it's incompatible. However, I can play the DVD on my laptop and I can play other DVDs on my DVD player. Any suggestions on how I might get it out of this odd state so that it will play that DVD again? |

Long shot, but you could try unplugging the player from the mains overnight and then trying again.

as far as i know there is sections on a dvd which come under
user prohibitions you press on your remote and cannot halt the disc whatever you do because of the prohibitions. Last edited by beintot : 23-03-2008 at 19:30. Reason: read original post for second time |

Some DVD players will try to resume a disk that they recognise from the last played position. If yours does this then I guess it might be causing this problem. Most ones that do this have a limited memory for the number of discs they can remember so if you try to put in 5+ other discs it might forget the one you're trying...
...or you could check it for scratches/fingerprints etc. |

Or you could re-author the disc
.
