Unlock Central

Having just been ripped off by this lousy outfit, they claim to be able to unlock phones, you send them money, they then say they are unable to unlock it and do not refund, I was wondering if readers could point me in the direction of getting my kids V3 and V3i unlocked from Orange PAYG as I wish to get them over to 02.

I am happy to pay fair price.

Thanks

Steve

Why not just ask Orange?

Don't Unlock Central offer unlocking information, not an unlocking service?

If I remember correctly, I paid unlock central by Paypal.
Again they didn't give me an unlock code, so I opened a dispute with Paypal, money was quickly refunded.
Hope this helps

motounlockuk.co.uk is another one that appears to be very suspect. After payment software was sent but was impossible to follow and involved accessing and changing all manner of things. You have to pay by credit card which goes through Nochex. I insisted the website statement that it was a simple 5 minute job was untrue a deliberate attempt to mislead and I insisted on a refund. Nochex didn't want to know. I contacted the "dealer" who advised that I had to complete a refund request, it was sent eventually.
I completed the form and sent it back registered delivery,,,guess what, 2 weeks later the form was returned undelivered. At this point I threatened the bloke with Trading Standards as he was operating from within the UK, I also threatened to inform the police fraud department. I gave him 7 days to do the refund and Bingo, I received a message from Nochex saying that REFUND HAD BEEN AUTHORISED, so the message is dont let the scammers win, do whatever it takes to do them. On the point of unlocking, I had 2 phones which were on Vodafone (own models) I wanted them on a different network, I rang Vodafone who could not have been more helpful and within 20 mins my phones were both unlocked. When Vodafone become more competitive I would be happy to go back to them. Now its o2 who are telling me they do not offer an unlocking service.
I have 2 samsungs on o2 E900 and E370 both stuck on o2 and it doesn't seem like I can do anything about it. WHY ARE THEY ALLOWED TO TAKE AWAY MY FREEDOM OF CHOICE. bbbbbbb

You could try your local open air market they usually have a shop that sells and unlocks phones or your local sunday market will have the same setup

I went to the one in Cardiff who wanted £10 to unlock 1 V3i i told him i had 2 (for the kids) and he did both for £15

O2 can unlock your phone for you.

If you call them and they say they cant tell them they need to fill in the 'Unlatching Code Request Form'. As long as you have had the handset for 12 months on the network your handset can be unlocked (unless you are a contract select customer or bought the handset outright). The unlatching code can take upto 28 days to process and there is a £15 charge per handset...

I am going to try the local market tomorrow see what happens . laland posted a unlocking code previously but with the phones belonging to my kids I am scared of trying them in case the screw them up. There are so many conflicting stories, some say you cannot unlock Samsung with a code others say you can, either you can or you cant. cheers

it may work but try by putting the new sim in the phone then on the code needed push the top middle button then push 000000 it may work as some v3 will do it that way

Are you sure the phones are locked to 02 ? , have you tried another non 02 Sim , usually 02 ex contract phones are not locked

Or are they PAYG handsets ?

I have just unlocked my sons E900 it was on PAYG vodafone to put in a 02 sim

I'll post up details in a few mins

There were 2 ways to do it , the first involved inputting a number this allowed the 02 to work fine , but when / if the phone ran out of battery I had to input it again

The second one involved downloading software , hooking up the phone via the data cable supplied with the phone and it was real easy .

Its now totaly unlocked

Put the new sim in first , using this method if the battery runs out or you take the battery out to put a sim in you need to re input the code

I had to do it twice as it didn't take the code the first time

just input the code as if you were dialling that number and follow the instructions mentioned in my first post

I have the other details on my home computer , I'll post info on this thread after lunch tomorow but you will need the cable to do the 2nd method

But this 2nd method is a once and for all job done no need to mess around again

Remember if you allow the battery to run out or take the battery out , you'll need to renter the code

Its not hard to do , but I found the other option , this involved downloading some software , connecting the phone by the cable and within 5 mins it was totally unlocked and no worries about the battery going flat

No I think with the phone being my daughters a flat battery might cause problems and I think I would perhaps prefer the other method with the software

Try it , it just defaults back to the original sim provider if it loses the power ( well it did on my sons )

I to got sick of putting the code back in , so decided to unlock it once and for all

All the info on the 2nd method is on my other Pc @ home , my wife will e mail them to me Tommorow and i'll paste them up here

Both methods work , the 2nd one just works forever
