No idea re the original source but it worked! Unlocked E900 previously locked to Vodafone.
Zip file is about 4.7MB
Copied and pasted with minor amendments for clarity:

You need this software.
Download it here:

http://www.schwantz-i.org/samsung/E9...0EMINEMGSM.zip

Extract using Winzip. You need password.
Password = i-ztnawhcs
Remove sim card from phone.
Connect usb cable, the one that came with your phone.
Phone needs to be powered.
Open software by clicking on the pink-purple exe file icon.
Go to "Set write settings"
Select the type of phone you have - "SGH-E900"
then set the port number your phone is on.
This can be found by doing the following;

Right click on the my computer icon.
Select properties
then select hardware.
Scroll through until you see ports,
left click on this,
you will see i description of the phone and the port number it is working on.
ie
samsung SGH-E900(port 6), for example.
Close the hardware profiles and then select the port number as detailed.

Press the ok putton.

Scroll down and you will see an icon that is now highlighted saying Unlock.
Left click on it.
the screen will go green and say passed.

Samsung SGH-E900 now unlocked.

WARNING DO NOT USE ANY OF THE OTHER FUNCTIONS TO THIS SOFTWARE.”

You should have had more faith and left her pictures , music and contacts alone

Reboot your computer is the first thing I'd try and turn the phone off and back on as well ( the phone is turned on , isn't it ? whilst its connection by cable as I believe your comp will only recognise it on com port 3 if its powered up

My sons was a brand new phone for Xmas so had diddly squat onto lose , everything he has added now is by bluetooth , wap or MMS

So I have not tried to connect the phone to the Pc via cable since

If all else fails , use the system restore option to say yesterday morning to take your pc to before you unlocked the phone

But try the reboot of your pc and phone first

and then

Right click on the my computer icon.
Select properties
then select hardware.
Scroll through until you see ports,
left click on this,
you will see i description of the phone and the port number it is working on.
ie
samsung SGH-E900(port 6), for example.

good luck

Well my friend you came up trumps again.Carried out a restore everything back to normal and working brilliantly.
I cant thank you enough , my daughter Laura sends you a big XXXXXX.

Would you by any chance know where this fix came from I wondered if it would be worth looking for an unlock code or software for the other Samsung E370... THANK YOU

Hi

I found the first way of doing it by inputting the lengthy code from this Ds thread

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s...highlight=E900

Which works fine , until the battery runs out , which my youngster let happen quite a lot , so I scoured google to find the second method which worked perfectly even after the battery runs out

The 2nd method came from another DS thread see post #7 on this thread

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s...d.php?t=680190

Why not try the first method on your E370 just to see if it works for now

I was going to try the same software but that model number isn't listed on the software so I wouldn't know which to select.

I'll ask around for the E370 and post back here any info , let me know if you get sorted
