Blocking Number from Texting?
laurieballard

Hello

I have a friend who is getting pestered by an ex boyfriend, in that he sends like 40+ messages per day. She does not want to change her number as she has had it for years. Would she just be able to call Vodafone and have the number blocked from sending her text messages?

Thanks

Laurie

What type of phone does she have? S60 phones can run sms filter software.

The netwrok can't filter your messages like this. It wouldn't solve the problem anyway, as he would get a different number or phone.
Your network can offer good advice. But the basic process is:
Do NOT respond to the messages. He will give up eventually.
If they do not stop or are abusive, then take the phone to the Police and make a formal complaint.

If the messages are threatening etc she should contact the police. Vodaphone should have a Nuisance Call Bureau that they can refer your friend to also.

Hi Laurie,

I imagine this is really annoying for your friend.

We don't have the facility to block individual numbers from contacting you. The best thing we could do for her would be to change her number but from reading your post I understand she doesn't want to do this.

I would agree with the other advice on this thread, get her to report it to the police. Perhaps this will deter him from contacting her.

I do hope she gets its all sorted out. If she changes her mind on changing her number she can contact us to request it. Please be aware that number changes cost £25 (Inc VAT) unless you have a crime reference number to back up that reason for the number change.

She can get in touch by filling in the contact us form from the Vodafone website. If she includes the code FIT135 it will direct her email to my team.

Please let me know if I can be any further help.
