You could also tell from the individual performer's threads which, after that performer was eliminated, that thread would often go into meltdown, with pages and pages of spoilered out posts, but it was fairly obvious just from the number of spoilered posts that that performer had got the chop. There were a lot of well-meaning but still rather inconsiderate posters on the SCD forum last time.

I think lots of reality shows in the US work like this, although over there they seem to be Tues and Thurs rather than Sat and Sun.

Hi! I'm new on here but I think if people can't wait to find out the results then a spoiler only bit would be good for them - as long as no-one leaks it on the main chat sites.

I was on the SCD forum last year and decided to come over to digital spy as it seems more civilised - hi everyone!

Thanks - its much nicer over here! Much more civilised and 'grown up'. Last year on the scd forums it got really nasty on some threads.

American Idol does it over two nights, but both live. This increases their txt revenue opportunity to almost 24 hours, rather than an hour or so.

Mind you stringing out the results show for an hour is painful.

what I don't understand is why they pretend constantly on the Saturday show that they will all be back 24 hours later and that its live on Sunday. Surely the BBC has learned its lesson about lieing

I have less of a problem with next day results than the ITV habit of saying, " After this break"

Voting for AI is free. They get their money from their sponsors.

The reason voting for AI is overnight is because they are a large country.
