Hi there everyone,

This is my first post, so please go easy on me.

I’m in the planning stages of my home video / audio systems, current plans are :

Lounge

This will be the main room for viewing movies and TV.
LCD TV - Samsung LE52F96BD (£2300) - http://www.trustedreviews.com/tvs/re...-LED-LCD-TV/p1
Sky HD
Playstation 3
Home cinema system - Samsung HT-TXQ120 http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/d...HT-TXQ120R/XEU??
Dining / Kitchen

Samsung LE-32R87BD - http://www.trustedreviews.com/tvs/re...32in-LCD-TV/p1
Home cinema system - Sony DAV-IS10 (£350) - http://www.trustedreviews.com/home-c...nema-System/p1
XBOX 360
Bedroom

32” LCD – Undecided yet, maybe the same as the dining / kitchen depending on effect.
Later may add Sony Dav-IS10.
Office

PC
I’m planning to connect the Sky HD & PS 3 via HDMI to the lounge, dining / kitchen and bedroom screens using a HDMI 2 x 4 matrix splitter, the below giving the planned product which is around £499.

In order to connect the LCD’s to the HDMI splitter I will need a 2m cable for the lounge screen, 10m for the bedroom and a 15m for the dining / kitchen LCD. I’m planning to order cables from http://ukhdmi.com/hdmi-premium.php where the 15m cable is only around £30. Ok, so this is the 1st main area I need advice. Some places on the internet suggest that 5m is the maximum length for HDMI other information suggest 20m. Considering you can pay almost 10 times as much for the same length of cable is this cable likely to be ok ? Does anyone have experience of UK HDMI cable ?

On another area will the Sky HD / PS3 output 5.1 audio on the HDMI outputs? This is important for me because I plan to feed the home cinema system with one optical cable from the LCD’s so I’m hoping that the different inputs to the LCD’s will all output 5.1 to the home cinema systems.

If anyone as got any other input on the setup I’m planning then please let me know. I’m pretty set on the DAV-IS10 but am not sure about the HT-TXQ120 for the main system. I would prefer something that wasn’t has imposing.

Thanks in advance,
Patrick

you would be better getting the Onkyo which can handle HDMI version 1.3 for x-box and PS 360.

you can feed it several HDMI inputs and it has a HDMI output so one HDMI to tv

Put it in dining room and living room

As long as the HDMI splitter is powered I see no reason not to run cables throughtout the house

why not get the HDMI installers certificate ? its the easiest course I have ever seen
