Menu options shadowed out

I think this problem has only occured since the software was updated - I had full access before that.
Basically a lot of the options in the Menu are no longer avaialbe - they are just shadowed out. For example, I cannot access the Installation option at all. And in the Record Option, options 3-7 are shadowed out.
I had intended to do a Restore to factory settings but I suspect this is in the Installation option as I cannot find it anywhere.

Does anyone know what's going on?

I've seen this before but I think it's simply because you're recording, or recording two programs or something like that.

No I'm not recording anything at all when I looked this evening. And I've not seen the shadowed out stuff become unshadowed since the last software update.

Well it's not simply a v21 problem because mine and probably everyone else's menus are ok. I'll have a look next time I'm recording because I think that's when certain menu items get greyed out.

Installation menu is greyed out during recording or playback.

Yeah, I realised that it couldn't really have been a software update issue since everyone would have been reporting it! But that was when I first noticed it. Trouble is I didn't pay a great deal of notice to it at the time (other than thinking it was a little odd) as I didn't need the Installation or the other stuff.
I went back to the PVR and the stuff is shadowed out even though it's not recording nor using play back or chase play. It's there all the time.
Very weird indeed.
Any other ideas?

Do as Barry said, switch it off at the mains for a minute or two. If that doesn't work then try a Default Settings, according to the link Barry gave you can still access the Installation menu by pressing 4.

Thanks for the advice and tips. Have now set it back to Factory settings and so far everything seems to be working as it should - phew!

Default Settings usually works wonders, failing that I would have suggested reloading the software from your computer.
