9200 Standby Issue
Grazer10
25-03-2008
When I come down to the living room each morning, the first thing I notice is that my 9200T is whirring away, as if it is recording. The display however is the standby display and there are no recording scheduled or running.

I then have to press the front power button on and off, and this stops the whirring.

Is this an issue with the device not going into standby properly once it finishes any overnight recordings, and if so has it been introduced by the recent software update as it has only started doing about 3-4 weeks ago?

Any advice gratefully received.....

Thanks all,

Grazer

This is the infamous "active standby" mode, which some say is a bug. The machine checks the EPG overnight for any changes which affect series link and the hard disc keeps spinning. Try setting automatic off to 0430 and see if that stops it.

That is a different slant to what I've heard elsewhere. With me I turned off the automatic search for firmware updates and that put a stop to a noisy breakfast. My serial links continue to work fine.
I'll turn the frimware search back on when/if I hear that Humax are issung a new one.

If it's the Regular Auto Update why doesn't it happen every morning?

After v21 release back in January I purposely left Regular Auto Update enabled for several weeks. My machine was never in this ‘active standby’ mode in the morning.

Yeah. No-one knows what is going on there, either.

Thanks everyone - a useful discussion. I'll try the above suggestions starting tonight, and I'll feedback what happens.

Cheers all,

I have mentioned this was happening to me in another thread.

I finally managed to stop it happening. It appeared to be the results of consecutive AR, SL recordings! I *was* recording Moving Wallpaper & Echo Beach on a Friday evening. Often I was then chase playing one or both of these. When I shut down for the evening, everything was fine. But Saturday morning, guaranteed, the disk would be spinning, but the machine was in standby mode. This must have happened at least 4 weeks in a row.

I had done a full reset to defaults both before, and after the upgrade to v21.

My fix - was to stop recording moving wallpaper. The problem then stopped occuring, and I haven't seen it since!
