I first tried chips with mayo about 30 years ago in Holland and they were delicious. These days we only eat chips once a week and i've gone a step further. In a ramekin I mix a Tbsp of mayo, a Tbsp of ketchup and a Tsp of Dijon until combined. We then dip our chips in it. Absolutely gorgeous!!

Preferably tomato ketchup, but I don't mind salt either- just not a combination of both.

This looks like a good online website. Have you shopped online and if so do they provide a good service ?

Thanks

Chips with lots of salt, vinegar and ketchup - only way to eat them for me! Although I did try chips and gravy for the first time the other day, I didn't think I'd like it but it was delicious!
I also nearly always get my chips from the chip shop, I just think they taste so much better than if you've cooked them yourself.

Sounds perfect - I'm ordering some of that!

Edit - I have just found it in Sainsburys!

I lovingly inject each chip vertically with a syringe-full of homemade tomato ketchup a la Heston Blumenthal...

If I'm having something like pie and chips then I love gravy on them (but no salt and vinegar) . If it's fish and chips then plenty of salt and vinegar and either tomato sauce or mayonnaise! I love mayo with chips

With fish - salt and vinegar

With anything else - brown sauce (not fruity). Don't like ketchup.

Tried chips with gravy - yuck!

I hate tomato ketchup - disgusting - so that gets nowhere near my food.

Hate mayonnaise - so again that gets nowhere near my food.

Now I like Salad Cream and I like Brown Sauce.
I occasionally have gravy or curry sauce.

I mostly have mushy peas and brown sauce.

Still boycotting Heinz, so no Heinz products, that includes their HP and daddies range - boycotting due to Heinz closing down the HP Sauce Factory in Brum and moving production to the Netherlands, even though they said they wouldn't before they bought it of Danone.

Great idea for a thread by the way.

Vinegar HAS to go on my chips. No vinegar means no chips for me. I was always the only one out of my friends who lothed going to McDonalds - not selling vinegar for chips is disgraceful in my opinion, but there we go - it has provided me with a lifelong reason to avoid McDonalds like the plague, so I shall not complain too much

As for sauces in the strictest sense...

Curry sauce and chips is my all-time favourite - saturday night treat.

I very rarely have chips now but as a kid, tomato ketchup was a favourite - I loathe it on chips now.

So... BBQ sauce for me - the HP one is very yummy, seconded to HP Brown Sauce and third... Heinz Salad Cream - now that is nice!

I don't like vinegar on chips unless the chips are from a chip shop and the shop has put it on with the salt.

However like yourself we rarely have chips.

Afraid Heinz / HP is boycotted, so we have Branston / Cross & Blackwell.
