I enjoyed the 'Nancy' program last Saturday more than I expected. The girls looked as if they have the personality to make it a good show, but I was wondering - what other musicals do you think can be used in this way? Phantom of the Opera perhaps? Any suggestions?

I think it maybe a while before they sink down to the likes of the Mikado(mind you hot mikado it a pretty good jazzed up version of the original), but I'd love to see the end song for that one "I've got a little list of those that won't be missed".

Cats?

Starlight Express would be quite amusing with auditionees rollerskating and singing

I must admit to being cynical when they did the first show, thinking it will be fixed in some way. But despite this I enjoyed both HDYSAPLM? and ADWD.

Now, I think they've gone too far. Lee was already working the West End. But they got away with it and he is a ery good Joseph. But Densie lusted after Lee on the and now they are together. Now we have a friend of DVO on IDA. As I've said before I think she now compromises these shows and should stand down from the current panel perhaps till next year's show.

Denise did not 'lust' after Lee during ADWD! There was an attraction between them, but neither acted upon it and, throughout the show, both behaved appropriately. Denise did NOT give Lee any preferential treatment, nor did he seek any out! He worked damn hard to win ADWD and in my opinion was the right choice for Joseph! When Lee and Denise did start dating, it a) was several months after ADWD ended and b) Lee did the 'chasing'!

As for Francesca - at no point have I seen anything in the media to indicate the she and Denise are friends! They worked together in a WE production, but that does not mean that they knew (or know) each other socially outside of that!

I hope that Denise does not stand down from the panel - she was the most articulate and sensible judge on the panel during Saturday's IDA! She did Francesca no special favours (and let's face it, she could have done). Her comments were fair and, to my mind, unbiased!

I don't see why Denise compromises the show any more than John who has also worked with one of the girls in a professional capacity. Like johartuk says, Denise and Lee didn't get together until after ADWD. I don't understand why Denise's connection to Francesca has been so much more publicised and commented on than John's connection with Sarah.

I'm not interested in your comments above except to say that Lee was definitely the best choice for Joseph and according to you... There was an attraction between them... Interesting. Do explain.

By the way, what do you think of Lee's performance in Joseph? I've see the show twice and might go again.

It's a phone-in show. You surely know about all the scandals.

I just think that after the scandals and Denise's involement with Lee after ADWD and her working/friendship with Francesca these issues compromise the show.

I do think Denise has worked damned hard to remain unbiased in her comments. If Francesca wins, which she might because she is very good, it might undermine the integrity of the show.

IT'S A PHONE-IN COMPETITION. KEEP IT FREE FROM ANYTHING WHICH MIGHT UNDERMINE THE SHOW.

Yes, believe it or not, at this stage, I know it's a phone in competition

You haven't actually answered my question though. Why does the fact that Denise has had a professional connection with Francesca compromise the show any more than the fact that John has had a had a professional connection with Sarah?

The Denise/Lee relationship doesn't have anything to do with this show. And it would have been difficult to drop her for it on ADWD, given that it didn't happen until afterwards.

John worked with Sarah a long time ago. She was a child. Denise worked with Francesca recently and they are still in contact.

Your last comment has no relevance whatsoever. I never suggested this.

Look, if you are a fan of Denise, Lee, John et al, then I'm sorry if my comments have offended you in any way.

I was under the impression that Sarah played John's child in a production, not that she was a child when she did it. Given that Sarah has been banging on about how she always plays children, I'd suggest that this could have been fairly recently.

You brought up Denise's relationship with Lee. If it isn't relevant to this discussion (and I agree, it isn't) why did you mention it?

I would have to declare myself as a fan of Lee, but as for John and Denise, well, I couldn't give a rats ass. I have never in my life been offended at anything any one has posted on a forum. That's something I save for the real world. I enjoy a bit of robust debate

RE Sarah - According to the IDA website it was 5 years ago, when she was 20. So although she was an adult it wasn't fairly recently. Anyway JB hasn't done any West End lately.

I was referrring to the text in bold. This was not suggested.

My point is that if Francesca should win IDA, then the programmes might just well look like the DVO show. I.e. Her mates win, she gets her boyfriend from the last show.

I loved HDYSAPLM and ADWD was even better and I've seen both shows in the West End. Like you, I'm also a big fan of Lee's work. He's a really good performer.

Hate Cats, took me three years to watch.

Starlight Express, on the other hand, I really want to see. That would be fantastic!

It's a shame ALW didn't write every musical ever made, I'd love to see a West Side Story show, maybe looking for Tony AND Maria! Mainly Tony, though, because then we'd have another programme of guys.

Also Fame and The Rocky Horror Show.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that ALW said he was thinking about Jesus Christ Superstar as an idea. However, I may be wrong - its my age!!

Was there not rumour of 'Jesus Christ Superstar' being done next year?

It would work but I just wonder, would it still be apropriate to call ALW 'The Lord'? And could you imagine Graham Norton talking about 'The Jesuses'?.

I'd love to see JCS done next year. I saw the original London cast many years ago.................

Although Connie had to do 8 shows a week with a tough role, I think it would also be really tough to do 8 shows playing the lead in JCS.

And can you imagine - "Bob... you could be Jesus". "Steve... you're not Jesus"

"You could be Jesus". I think we should petition the BBC to do JCS next year, just so we can hear that line. Hahahahaha!

"Time to vote for your favourite Jesus!"

"Who do you think was not Jesus?"

Or even a criticism "I don't think you're Jesus."

So if J C next year.....

makes sense that it might be Evita the year after - they could then audition for the Eva's and the Che's

A reality show like this to find a Jesus ... that would make me really uncomfortable. I think it's a bad idea.

Evas and Perons - I expect that show will be aired sooner or later, but it's an awful musical, so here's hoping the concept bores the country first!

They could always look for a Judas if they did JSC, it is a big a part as Jesus

That's a good idea. Why not search for Judas and Mary Magdalene? They only did Evita last year, so I can't see it being done again.
