And don't forget POTO 2 is coming up - but I wonder if the Beeb would get away with "not promoting" that show like they "haven't promoted" SOM, Joseph and Oliver.

The point of these shows is to find the lead, though, the one who will be the centre of everyone's attention - although Judas and MM are leading parts, it'll be a bit odd to miss out Jesus. In any case, I hope they don't do JCS - it'll just be so wrong to hear them say "you weren't Jesus for me John" or something!

The new Phantom of the Opera seems like an obvious choice. Maybe they could do West Side Story and look for a Maria and Tony - although if they're going to do the couple thing, they'd better do it a little more satisfactorily than the shambles that was Grease is the Word!

Phantom is possible, but it's such a treasured part to me, I'd just hate to see it done wrong so so much. It is, without doubt, the best part for a male to perform in the West End. I like ADWD/IDA shows, but I really think the Phantom deserves a pro.

Maybe the brothers in Blood Brothers?

It's a pity Rent is doomed to fail over here (and indeed just has done for the third time), because Take Me or Leave Me is crying out to be used as the title for one of these shows...

I know what you mean - I don't really want Phantom or my other favourite musicals to be butchered either. Plus, I think Phantom is too big and difficult a role for an amateur to master successfully, imo. It's a much more emotional and singing-heavy part than, say, Joseph.
