This woman didn't make final 12, because she was too good!?!?

That's an over simplification. They felt she wasn't right for the part.

Having seen her final sing-off at ALW's house, I'd agree.

Me too

I really didn't like the way she was acting kicking her feet about as if she was in a line up on 'who's line is it anyway?' when they make up a song between them.

Sorry but her singing voice was not right for Nancy, much better suited for Eponine.

completely agree, I missed the first show and read lots of people on here absolutely raving about her. Then caught the show online and was hugely disappointed. Yes, she looked right. Yes she was a chirpy cockney but not the right singer in a million years. Her voice had that stereotype stage school, slightly nasal twang that works brilliantly for Eponine but Nancy needs a voice with a lot more depth. Nancy's voice was far too light.

Both great parts for great performers, just very different.

I also agree 100% with the feedback on the lass this thread is about. I auditioned for Nancy for a very good amateur group and was told that my voice was too trained and my performance too "polished". The part of Nancy has to be so raw that for trained singers it's very hard to get back to basics and not over-sing it. The original Nancy, Georgia Brown, was an actress who could sing rather than the better known performance from Shani Wallis who played the role in the film who was clearly a singer who could act. Going right back to basics, I think you need a real rough round the edges performer and a highly trained singer just isn't going to find that easy.

Of course, I wouldn't say that "chosen one" Francesca sounds particularly raw as the singing I did hear from her was very cabaret (although I saw her in Rent and she was the only good performer in a bloody awful production, can't comment on DVO as she was off sick!) so who knows what the judges are thinking!

Er, not one of my favourites. An excellent voice, but very 'stagey'. I agree that Nancy Nancy is better suited to the role of Eponine, but hers was the only performance that moved me. Sorry, but this woman left me cold.

i thought that Katie Rowley Jones should have got through we didn't see her whole audition but she is AMAZING! i was sooo suprised and really upset that Katie didn't get through she's such an amazing actor and has a fabulous voice she couldv'e got the part easily and done it so much justice. If anyone she was "too good" to be Nancy Love you Katie!

and also just wanna say i love the way they chose songs from WICKED for the auditions, they should do a public audition for that when they run out of actors fighting to be in it!

I hate this (very American) trend for calling females "actors". What is wrong with the word "actress"?

Everyone seems to think that Francesca has got the part sewn up, but judging from the panel's comments, they semed to prefer Rachel....unless it is some kind of complicated double bluff.....

Hate is a very strong word!
She has done very well to get this far and has a great voice. I do think she is nearing her time to go maybe next week but lets not take away from her what she has achieved so far!

Think you could probably express your views in a more mature way.
Interested to know what exactly she's said or done to make you 'hate' her? I assume you've never actually met her?

As a lot of you were very dissapointed to know that Nancy was cut, I thought you may be interested to know that there is a back up Nancy, should one of the girls for any reason need to pull out of the show, but unfortunately it is not NANCY NANCY, who judging by this thread would be most peoples choice, it is one of the girls who made the final 18. I wont disclose her name just yet, but she was one of the last to be told she hadn't made it. Sorry to keep you hanging guys, but I cant just yet.

Oh I know, I just cant help it. I was surprised she was the choice too, I didnt think she was going to make the final 18, so was not surprised she was cut, but did not expect her to be the back up at all, strange choice I think, and probably quite an awkward position to be in.

I take it your (xxxxx) was not the exact amount of letters in the name as if it is then we are thinking of two different people. I am sure we are not and you were just being cleverly secretive ha ha.

playhousechick and MrSpielberg - I really enjoy reading your posts everyday. Then I had a thought, I do hope you're genuinely involved with the performers, and not sitting at home at your PCs having a right giggle!

That Helen lady seems nice enough, but she's got that terrible Ruthie Henshall way of singing through her teeth. I'm glad she didn't get through, that would have annoyed me every week!

That is interesting, from what I was told the standby is
xxxxxxxxx, she was one of the last to be told she had not got through, unless yours is an abbreviation of the name, then we have both heard different people, how odd, if not interesting.

Gilly panda, I understand, and to be honest it is as frustrating not being able to say certain things as much as it must be to read some of my posts and not get the full info. I can only speak for myself and say that I have my connections to the programme, I have been in close contact with the girls, I know a lot of inside info but admittedly I do not know everything and I have not been at a live show.

I just like to write the things you guys might find interesting, even if I cant say exact details, it is always good to get an idea what you guys think about certain aspects of the programme. Unfortunately there are certain legal implications involved, and therefore If I was foundout, than I or even worse someone else could get into trouble, thats the only thing stopping me saying certain things.
If it makes things easier maybe I should stop, and just give my opinions on the things everyone knows about.

With regards to be and Spielberg, I think some of our posts must be slightly frustrating to others, but I think we are both trying to figure out who the other is, as we both know how much trouble we could get into for disclosing some of this info, and we are obviously of the same thinking that some of the info is just soooo exciting that we cant keep it in and want to share with you guys.

If you dont mind me saying, just to let you know that this Saturdays show, with regard to the Olivers going to see some of the boys from Billy Elliot, should be lots of fun to watch, the 3 Billys guided the boys through certain routines and scenes in the show and also got them to try on tutus, very funny indeed, they all seemed to get on well. Cameron Mackintosh went along also to catch up with them all and see what they had got up to, and a source confirmed what Spielberg mentioned before about all the boys being used in Fagins Gang or in the show in some form or other. Kids teaching kids usually makes good viewing.
