How can you describe Nicholas as "dark"? Unless you mean from the dark side, in which case I wouldn't argue.
Also Michael is Greek which means he is an olive-skinned caucasian.
I think it was Nicholas', Raef's and Michael's already existing complexes that made them think they were being exiled.
Michael comes across as someone who will say and do whatever he thinks will win him the most favour at the time and Raef and Nicholas have the typical attitude of someone over-compensating for their insecurity by appearing cocky and boastful.
