Whilst I support the production of a soundtrack of the current WE production of Joseph (I emailed RUG about it a while ago and was told that there wasn't going to be a soundtrack album because there were already a number of different ones available), I think the wording of this petition is actually detramental to its cause!

It's fine up to the part about lots of people having spent money to see the show, but it should also include the fact that there is a ready market for the CD/DVD (all the people who watched ADWD and voted) and that a lot of people would love to see/hear the show but have been unable to make it down to London!

We need to concentrate on getting a soundtrack featuring the current WE cast, rather than some bizarre 'sing-along' version featuring Craig, Lewis et al!

The petitition needs to be reworded (if you like, I'll do it - PM me if you're interested) and a more realistic goal (a WE soundtrack) aimed for.

I guess we have different opinions :>. I used the words "new audience", to cover the ADWD audience, so that answers the first point. Additionally, I'm more interested in a DVD of the ADWD lads (and so are the majority of people signing), though I would happily buy a DVD of the WE cast too. The WE production isn't the end-all of the show (and both productions have been seen by our family). The touring production is just as valid and beloved.

Thanks for the offer - I'm happy with the wording as it is :>

The WE production is the one that a campaign should be foccused on! It may not be the 'be all and end all' to you, but it is the one most likely to be recorded - therefore, it would be sensible to concentrate on that, rather than clouding the issue with requests for soundtracks of 'touring' or 'sing-along' versions.

If you want a touring version, that should be treated as a separate issue and any petition for that should aimed at Bill Kenwright, rather than RUG.

If there is to be a soundtrack recording, I would want the WE version - the version that ADWD was set up to cast and the version whose leading man the public voted for! There is a definite market for this (people who watched ADWD/voted, those who go to the theatre to see the show and those who are unable to do so, but would love to have a copy of the soundtrack)! RUG is missing out on a major marketing opportunity in my opinion!

Both he and ALW will be aware of it, if it ever gets big enough

Saw Joseph at the Adelphi on Monday - fabulous. Would have loved to have got a CD or DVD of the performance, have signed petition, doubt whether it will make a difference but not signing it definitely wouldn't!
