Upgrade?(Thomson DTR6300-16 )
Dini
27-03-2008
I had a message on my box (Thomson DTR6300-16 ) this evening saying that there had been a TUTV upgrade. Does that mean just Top up tv bit (which I don't subscribe to) or the whole box? (Nothing seems to have changed....)

Same here. My box has updated to software version 2.91. No obvious functional differences noticed yet.

I've not noticed any difference either, for which I am very disappointed - the rapid FFWD/RWD bug is still there, and the machine is still bloody noisy in standby.

It's added subtitles to mine.

I had subtitles already. (Right from when I got it)

I think they send out the same message because some machines are still being distributed with V.2.00 of the software which didn't have those features.

Here is comment from Top Up TV rep Kieron Edwards on the update:

2. In the engineering menus there is now an option to temporarily stop the video preview window in the library. This enables the deletion of corrupt recordings without their crashing the DTR. Once you leave the library the video playback resumes as usual.

3. Some stability fixes.

DOH! - disappointing

Everytime ours crashes - or fails to record ER - I get hassle... - as though it's my fault

Please guys at TUTV get this sorted - or you will need to set up a marriage guidance counseling department

There have been some fixes to stability, so check next time you record ER.

Hi,

I just got a message saying there is an update to download and you need to switch off, I did this and we now have the new SW V2.91, so is it worth doing a new channel scan?

The green light in your other thread is the notification of the update.

You shouldn't need to do a channel scan.....the DTR will install the software itself when it's ready....ie, when neither of the tuners are being used

Thats it, I've had it with the 6300-16......

Well I stuck it out through upgrades and corrupt recordings being deleted, failed recordings due to clashes with other recordings which is should have been able to sort out because I only asked it to record 2 channels at the same time !. Not rocket science is it...

I've had it fail on 4 recordings of late, even deleted as corrupt, "Ashes to Ashes" final episode Grrrrr!

It's either going on FleaBay or in the bin, not decided yet...

I've got a early digihome/Goodmans box, it never fails to record perfectly everytime.. (touchwood !)

Right, going to check out the other PVR forums, see which one actually can do what it says on the box.

Mine did the update yesterday, and it seems faster in responding to the remote and also the recordings delete quicker.
But it could just be my imagination

Mines gone back to Tesco - It got so irritating that we haven't used it for the last couple of months...

It was so nice to go back to the DHD4000

Them's the breaks - I suppose a loan of a DTi3600 for the interest we would have gained on £80 in the bank is a fair enough deal LOL

Anyway - maybe try a Humax next...

The message says it will solve some technical issues you may have.....this update only fixes the problem of people losing channels, nothing else.
