These candidates are supposed to be skilled business people???. So wouldn't common sense say that prior to taking a load of fish to sell, you had first identify them, price the boxes up, etc etc. So at least when you get to the pitch, you can unload and sell straight away. What did this lot do?? make a complete shambles of it all.
Makes you wonder what this program is all about. Entertainment purposes perhaps???

They didn't really come across as being at the cutting edge with business acumen did they ?

I thought the obvious thing to have done, was to have used the journey to the market to at least start writing some price labels up and using the wholesale pricelist to start pricing up some items; then when they arrived at the market they would already have the labels and prices more or less ready to place on the fish, identifying them as they unloaded each box.

Still, I suppose that's too logical for their immense minds !

But what is amazing is that they NEVER have a fall back position. In every selling challenge to date they end up with unsold stock ~ surely by 2:00 they should have someone looking out to where they will be able to get rid of any unwanted stock later; the teams are big enough to spare someone.

I think they were right to get going with the travelling early on - the girls' pitch apparently usually outsells the boys' pitch 5:1 on a normal market day, so delaying getting there would have landed the girls in more trouble. But yes, they could have used the journey at least!

What stunned me most was that they had so many people on the one stand. Anyone with any managing skills would appreciate a surfeit of resources and sent half the team off to do some off site selling.

Did they have to only go to one market, could they not have had half the people in one market and half in another?

It would be nice if after each task the rules and constaints were published; for example if the use of phones and the internet is banned.

Sense seems to be the last thing most candidates have. Management skills also seems to be sadly lacking but these guys earn mega bucks ... who says life is fair

While I agree, I would say the pressure of the moment and the fact there are tv cameras recording every move could have an effect on their decision making and lack of sense!

But I would also say that although they may be successful people, why would the BBC chose REALLY great people to go on? It's more entertaining to pick the arrogant ones who think they're better than they are!

The task-fish thing is quite silly, why would a biz man who works in an office in a suit be able to turn up at a local market and sell things like a common market person.

This is the flaw in this show. Putting people in situations that they WILL NEVER be in is silly and pointless and of cousre just to make good tv.
