I was shocked to find out from the end of april they are stopping the rollover minutes and texts.

Was in a text message sent today from 789.

but dont worry all is ok, they are giving us 20% off Toni and Guy.

Par-lease.

Would that be a good enough reason for an early opt out of a contract? if so they could lose a few customers.

well i am in there 30 day contract so I can leave at anytime, still 300 mins for £10 a month is still good.

But is there a retention deal available?

Yes that is a change in the Ts & Cs which makes them worse for an existing subscriber. So yes that is an early contract release clause.

NO NO NO

Its only happening on the 300/300 cable sim only, where you haven't even signed a contract! We've given more than 30 days notice (as we have to) so if anyone doesn't like it they can leave by their own accord

i wonder if they arent going to offer retention deals as they dont want people on there as they are not making any money on the £10 sim offer.

Is this the new data rate for everyone or just for the 300/300 ?

£2 per MB is still a bit ridiculous though!

I just wrote this to them

I am very upset and angry at the text message I received yesterday from 789 about the non rollover minutes and texts from 28 April 2008.
This is one of the reasons that I joined Virgin Cable and Virgin Mobile.
I do hope in Hindsite that you realise this is wrong and change you decision or reduce the monthly charge (which used to be half price of non-cable customers at £20) so no only do non cable customers now get there sim for £15, so they are saving £5 a month, I now have to put up with not getting rollover minutes, I and I am sure many (based on what I have read on other websites) others will be strongly considering our future with Virgin Media and Mobile if this goes ahead.

I don't see what the big fuss is to be honest. Just make sure your mins and texts are used each month. Problem solved. If you don't like it, go to another network that offers rollover minutes....

....Oh, wait..... no other network does anymore

big fuss is

(a) we might be able to something for nothing, eg a free phone, reduced monthly tarriff.

(b) we are letting them know that they cant just do anything they want to make our monthly package worse and expect silence from us.

(c) I said I am staying anyway as have most people on here.

Virgin have phoned me up, wait there i will be off the phone in a minute.

Right, well unlike 3 the first question was not "hello, sir, I do understand the question"
He was a very well spoken man and at 8.30pm on a saturday night !!!!!
He basically said there are a few new packages coming out very shortly, and we have reduced the internet charges to 0.2 per kb was 0.5 per kb.

I said to him whats the point of stopping rollover minutes as these minutes were part of £10 paid by me to use in 1 month, if I havent used them why should I lose them, as you have already allocated me these minute its like you are given me extra just, ROLLING THEM OVER.

Anyway I must say what a fantastic service this is again, to ring personally.
Anyway keep your eyes open for some new tarriffs.

That's the whole point. They can do what they like.

But the whole point is that all the networks state in their T+C's that they can do what they like with no notice... so if you were to leave, where would you leave to?

oh ffs of course they can do whatever they want in T & C's

but its WHAT they do.

If putting up the price of the tarrif from £10 a month to £11 a month isnt bad
But £10 a month to £20 a month is extreme.

Virgin need to be aware there are limits.
