So David Cook has at last been found out as not being as good as he thinks he is.

He is taking credit just for doing a copy of different version of a song.

Everyone going on and on about the great arrangement and so therefore David Cook is wonderful is giving him credit for the arrangement that he didn't write.

And whilst all other singers have been bold enough to try other thinks, all David Cook has ever done is soft rock every single week.

So not a lot of talent there at all really.

Oh well, even the most successful singers have their detractors. Look in the Music section. The latest ones are about Pink Floyd LOL

See I never understand what the point in that oft used criticism is.

Why does he need to show different styles exactly? Do you think out in the real world he'll be singing disco on his album and somehow this makes him a better artist?

I'm a big fan of rock and it seems that every time a rock artist is on one of these shows, the same criticism is levied at them - they only sing rock. So? The country singers only seem to ever sing country. Brooke and Jason have both got their distinct styles and all their performances have been rather similar. Has Carly suddenly sung gospel and I missed it?

I can't say I'm bothered at all by people sticking to their genre. In fact, I think it makes for better performances as we get them doing what they're actually good at. I wouldn't expect someone like David A to come out a do a rock or metal song but I wouldn't say that that because he can't makes him clearly rubbish.

I would say that the idea is you take a song an do it in your style, not do something that you would never do outside of this competition and is therefore misrepresentative of who you are.

I think he's got a great voice, but there's just something about him that I'm not keen on... he seems to come over a little arrogant.
But maybe I'm wrong

The trouble for me is that while I never thought David C had the best voice in the competition I was impressed by the originality of his versions of Hello and Billie Jean. Finding out that he was just covering someone else's versions puts him in a whole different light for me ...

Whereas ALL the others whether liked or not will be doing something less predictable.

I can't see how this was arrogant at all. I quite liked it actually.

I didn't see him as arrogant either. I thought he was just sticking up for himself. After going on various fansites and seeing interviews I certainly get the impression that David is not in the least arrogant. I find him very intelligent and articulate. He seems like a very down to earth thoughtful person.

He has made it clear each time he has sung a song which artist's version he was singing but it hasn't always been shown on AI. Thats not David's fault but he seems to be the person being blamed.

I think you're kidding yourself if you believe the others are trying something different and doing new things each week. They all have their own styles, although some of them are far more generic than others.

Successful artist have their own style. They may sing ballads and up-tempo, but they put their own stamp on the performances.
If people don't like the style they find them boring, and that's fine. You can't please everyone. But someone who doesn't is bland, has no character and will never be a star.

I agree - I thought Billy Jean was his arrangement til I googled. Given that it wasn't - he sang it well - he's got a good voice - but not better than others.

They all cover other artists songs and none of them say thank you to who ever did it the firsts time round.

And I have never seen David say thank you that was my own arrangement. Have you?
