Popped into a South London branch of Pizza Hut this afternoon and while the customer service was excellent, do they always get so busy on a Saturday afternoon that they put you by the door and the long queue of 14 year old girls and families?

What have your experiences of Pizza Hut been like?

Last time I went was about four years ago - I paid an exorbitant amount for some dire tasting factory produced dough, covered in greasy cack, and the salad bar was full of rotting lettuce. I bet you don't see many Italians in pizza hut.

Well I remember in my early days of Pizza Hut going doing the architectural exercise of trying to pile the one-visit salad buffet bowl as high as possible...

Lettuce on the bottom flattened down with sweetcorn and chopped carrot + thousand island dressing and bacon bits (I bet they weren't...), topped with tomatoes interweaved with more sweetcorn and potato salad glooped with cucumber topped with a roof of more sweetcorn and dressing and bacon bits.

Yes, that was truly my sweetcorn era.

I normally tip the waiter in Pizza Hut, but they were so desperate to clear our table that I took the change and left!

Actually I've been in one Central London branch which was quiet but took ages to get the three courses.

Last time I was in a Pizza Hut was on holiday in Hong Kong a few months ago, about 10.00pm and it was nearly empty. Asked for a pepperoni pizza and it was like a dry cheese pizza... didn't enjoy it much. Thankfully they don't expect tipping much there

Only time I like my pepperoni pizza in Pizza Hut is when I'm in America, always tastes real nice and full of sauce wherever I go.

Used to quite like Pizza Hut, but when in Newcastle last year we popped along quite late (around 10pm) to the one at the Metro Retail park, and was told that they couldn't serve us as there were too many people in (actually, there wasn't very many except a party of around 10 people, but it must have been a staff versus people ratio thing)

We were actually initially lied to and told we could wait a bit if we wanted, then the next person said they still wouldn't be able to serve us because of the numbers, so i told the staff member in no uncertain fashion exactly what i thought of Pizza Hut and that i wouldn't be back

Typical of restaurants, supermarkets, etc, in this country. Open really late hours but don't have the staff to cope

Haha - the branch you mention is closest to where I live and from time to time i use their takeaway. Two things i find -- If ever you pay by cash and the price is £x.99 and you would need a 1p in your change - they always seem miraculously have no 1p's and you lose out. I Know it sounds petty but how many customers do they short change in this way and how much do they pocket as a result.

Secondly, whilst i find their pizza tasty in a dirty kind of way, they are salty as hell. I tend to find that after eating one, i am up all night getting drinks to quench my thirst and the next morning, that I can s**t through the eye of a needle. As a result, i tend to have them only occasionally.

I'm not happy with my pizza from that one in the metro park, not at all. Stopped going to that one. I would assume it would be the same from the one in Metrocentre too...

I occasionally eat at Pizza Hut, and have to say that I have always enjoyed the food. Depending what time you go depends on how 'noisy' it is.

I had a takeaway from them last time (a while ago now) with my parents and they have re-done the restaurant area since I was last in, it looked quite nice.

That just means it's not authentic, doesn't make it bad food.

Went for the buffet a few weeks ago....awful....the salad bar was ok,the pastas tasted synthetic and the pizzas were all pretty much cheese and tomato...with the odd bit of ham or veg if you were luckyVery greasy too. Prefer Pizza express.

Pizza Hut makes me feel ill if ever I have it now - its so processed and gives me a tummy ache the next day.

Years ago it actually used to be nice, and I have fond memories but I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole now!!

Haven't been to one for ages - the Pizzas are OK, but I find them very oily.

I agree that the challenge to get as much salad in your bowl is quite amusing to watch

I just go for the "wipe the bowl clean and go up again" approach. Are they really that bothered about people making multiple trips to the salad bar ??
